What do you guys think of Becoming the Archetype? Listened to some tracks and they seem pretty good to me...

It's good stuff, they def know how to play. Their last album was a miss for me though.

One thing I think Christian Metal fans should realize is that a lot of the bands they champion probably wouldn't exist if it weren't for secular metal bands like Pantera and Slayer. Yep, their favorite Christian Bands were not afraid to listen to secular bands for inspiration.

Can't say I'm too crazy about getting more, though.

And not Metalcore, btw. Nu Metal's more like it.

Nu metal you joking right Demon Hunter is far from nu metal

I like DH going to pick up their new album soon.

They play power metal so i wouldnt ever say to a power metal band that they are not brutal cause they are not supposed to be!

Definately doesn't sound like Metalcore to me. Rhythmic/rapid-fire "tough guy" vocals, hip-hoppish drum beats, and overall lack of Hardcore influence would be my rationale for calling them Nu-Metal.

I listened to the new Demon Hunter album again. They are modern rock. They are no longer metalcore with this album. There is way too much melodic singing in the album. It reminds me of Disturbed except the guitars don't have that crunchy modern guitar sound that bands like Disturbed or Godsmack has. Its softer like the new Serj Tankian album or like a power metal band playing it safe. But the heavy parts is still hardcore. The album is good, but nothing like the Triptych.

As I Lay Dying is probably one of the best metalcore bands out there and they are Christian.

May be the question should really be, "Are there metal fans that call power metal in general 'TEH GHEY!!1111' for not being 'BR00TAL N EAVIL ENUFF!!!1111?"

One thing that should be noted about Gambling With The Devil is that, even though it's not a directly Christian album, it is a very moralistic album. In fact, lyrically, the whole album is a question to the listener: Are you doing the right things in your life?

I call it gay for being so lame when the lyrics ramble about dragons and fantasy stuff. I can't stand old Blind Guardian (Twist has some good songs) or Dragonforce. Liking bands for the darkness of their lyrics is stupid.

Unfortunately, you've just described why quite a few people listen to metal music.

imo there are two aspects of power/trad metal that generally determine its quality:
-albums about history > albums about fantasy
-the less impressive the band's guitar solos are, the better their riffs and songs are
