I've owned that album for over a year, and never got round to listening to it. What's it like?

Um, all proggy and stuff, only listened to it once. Less wanky than Yes. Worth a try.

Vaughan Williams - Symphony No.2 "London"
Vaughan Williams - Phantasy Quintet/String Quartets Nos. 1 & 2

The London symphony is really nice.. however... it's almost recorded too low for my stereo, i can hardly hear anything, and if i turn up the volume you'll have a whole lot of white noise due to my crappy speakers

Anyone got this? I've heard mixed reviews of it.

Changed my mind on the PT after hearing some things which made me a bit wary, so I'm going to cancel the order and get Deathspell Omega-SMRC instead.

What made you wary? They're one of those many bands that I keep meaning to get into but never get around to....

Well its entirely instrumental (not I've anything against instrumental music, but PT's instrumentals aren't great) and apparently there's a lot of techno influence. Nothing against techno either really. I'll get my friend to lend me it, seems like a definite case of "try before you buy". Actually I'm now debating whether to get SMRC or F.A.S, wondering if SMRC will be too long and heavy going for my first DSO album.

I'm listening to some now (PT) and I can see what you mean. I like this kind of laid-back stuff, but if you're not into techno much this type of prog can be hard to get into. Ozric Tentacles, for a start.

I liked In Absentia, but that's pretty accessible. Apparently Voyage 34 is PT's most out there stuff, and I'm not sure it'd be for me.

On the PT front, amazon wouldn't let me cancel the order. Apprently it's all boxed for dispatch and that. Considering amazon stop processing at 6 and I ordered at 4:30, it's worrying that employees have nothing better to do than to pounce on an order as soon as it comes in. I'm taking this as a sign that the album will be some kind of life-changing experience, and make me a better person.

Heh, bad luck. If it's that bad I'll buy it from you for a reasonable price, how much did you pay for it?
