What is FS smoking? The songs are completely typical pop metal and the dude sounds like any other second rate flower metal vocalist.

Heavy metal and Idols should not be mixed.

True, he's not fantastic or innovative or metal god status, but it's an above average power metal album.

That speaks more about the general quality of power metal than the greatness of this album.

But well, if it works for you, great.

Most of the tracks on this album sound like stratovarius b-sides. However, Idols is a very big thing in this small country and no matter how crap album the winner releases it will top the charts. However, since Finland is the country of powermetal it is not unawaited that this will break the charts. It makes me however a little bit sad that that big powermetal stars like Helloween, Iced Earth or Gamma Ray never get the same kind of attention here even though they make similar kind of music, but lightyears better than Ari's solo album. However, it makes me happy that these great bands however break it through in the Top20 which is very rare for powermetalbands in other countries.

Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica and Nightwish always hit the number one spot in Finland, so Idols winner beeing a charttopper is definately no suprise. Sweden is also a big metalcountry and there Hammerfall's 3 latest album have also topped the charts while Finland's three big powermetal trio has never reached the top10 over there. Neither has Hammerfall done that in Finland. Seems like the heavy communities are very patriotic.

The power of the tv.....

Just watched the clip on youtube and i'm not impressed, this doesn't really sound like power metal to me. Maybe the rest of the album is different?

Wow, Finland seems to be teh land of metal!! Haha....or specifically Power Metal. But I'm not suprise why power metal is popular and very mainstream cos it's probably the only metal where non metalheads won't get headaches listening to it. Clean vocals, sweet choruses, not so extreme guitar playing....it's an exact formula for pop music. But I won't deny the fact that Finland is the producer of great extreme bands as well. Hails to Impaled Nazarene!!!

I can't stream the video cos my uni labs has firewalled it. Damn. Fuck uni labs.

I think Hear My Call is the worst song on the album. Believe me, I was really surprised after my first listen of the record, my attitude towards it was bad even before I listened to it. After a few spins I just couldn't accept that the album was actually pretty good. It's catchy and isn't boring ( though you can't say they really tried anything that hasn't been done a googolplex times already ). My only complaint would be that Ari sounds too thin at times, other than that it really was a positive surprise.

I like I/Fly, Don't Try To Break Me, and God Of War. And isn't Janne Warman on keyboards? Heard that somewhere.

Yeah, I also like Heartstealer and Our Beast. If I wouldn't have known it was Tolkki who worked on this album, then I would've believed that it was Kotipelto who influenced the music. I don't really get that much of a Strato-vibe from the album, the songs sound like songs that Kotipelto would have written for himself.

Well, that article tells us that Janne is one of the guest musicians that appear on the CD.
