I guess i should try in the future some King's X , since i've heard only good opinions about this band.As for Black Sabbath with Ozzy , i guess you should try again;first three Black Sab albums are much more than just heavy metal,they're way beyond,floating somewhere among the highest spheres of art...

Disagreed.. It wasn't till Sabotage that I find that Sabbath released anything that was more than just "good" and it wasn't until Heaven and Hell that I find that they released something really good.

I disagree.... all BS with Ozzy albums are good except for Sabotage (the first average Sabbath), Technical Ecstasy & Never Say Die.... that's, imo, when BS started losing his leadership on quality metal... :(

the first 5 BS albums are absolute must-haves for any trOO metalhead or metal lover (as are the 2 with Dio though more classical metal sounding which I regret)...

my 2 fave sabbath songs have to be:sabbath bloody sabbath-fantastic!
and electric funeral-really doomy with that crazy little bit in the middle-i loooove that song! :twisted:

I said that they are great songs on SWOD, but I prefer the live versions cos' they are really more powerfull in my opinion. And as somebody put it before, it's my opinion, and you have to respect it, as I respect your opinion about SWOD, thus I don't agree it.

in fact, you're both right... SWOD has an historical value which makes it a classic & certainly the SWOD songs on Unleashed in the East have a more aggressive tone that suits 'em very well...

that said, I still enjoy the mellow psyche sound JP has in SWOD.... I still kinda miss it too... :(

I totally agree with you Immortal Emokid, thanx for doing the "mediator" job.

Don't forget the fact that when SWOD was released, it doesn't put really forward the career of JP. Its impact was quite confidential for Rob and Co., at least in Europe and USA.

And when the group made it internationally with "screaming", this allowed a lot of people to discover or rediscover their first obscure tunes as SWOD.

what version of SWOD is this you reviewed? the tracklisting I know is different, and so is on their official website:

it looks like you began with the B-side of the tape or something...

The tracklisting was re-arranged for the CD version. The original vinyl version began with Prelude to Tyrant, and Side 2 had Victim of Changes to Deciever.

Ahaaa... interesting... didn't know that. I always thought Island of Domination was a weird way to end an album, I mean its echo ending... not that I didn't like the idea but it seemed a bit strange.
Now that I think about it, I think the original order of songs may have been better, do you know why they changed it?

I don't know why they changed it, and I agree with you. The album sounds much better starting with Prelude/Tyrant then Victim of Changes, and ending with Deciever instead of Island of Domination.

I've been a diehard (or so I thought!) Priest fan since I first heard Screaming for Vengence when I was 8. I knew of their stuff before SfV but it didn't really impact me the way SfV did. Only recently, I took the time to listen to some of their old stuff since I heard a Sad Wings remake off one of Halford's CDs as well as some oldies played live off of Insurrection. I must say that this album has a lot of great stuff on it and I am pissed at myself for not knowing about this album sooner!

I have since listened to a lot of old Priest stuff and I can just imagine how "evil" and heavy they must have sounded back then.

Jumping back over a year, I completely agree. I have a CDR of the tracks in the proper order sitting in the case for the version of the album I bought (the damn thing lists the tracks in the original order on the back, but they are actually in the re-arranged format :x ).
