Listening to leaked Symphony X. Definitely awesome but not groundbreaking in any way, a strong continuation of The Odyssey's sound. I highly recommend it. Just enough wankery while maintaining a heavy sound throughout. It is probably now my most favorite Symphony X album. Power metal album of the year.

2007 is pretty spectacular for metal.

Will prolly be my no.1-2 of the year, but i'll still have to wait til the damn thing arrives because i don't feel like downloading.

It seems they are finally getting the attention they deserve btw. and that rocks.

I was a huge fan of The Odyssey, and I actually think Paradise Lost is right on par with it. I love how heavy it is, and Allen's vocals are very aggressive. I love it from start to finish. Yeah this is definitely one of the best for the year.

Symphony X are going to be supporting Dream Theater when I see them! I'll have to check out the new album, as I liked the other stuff I've heard from them

I think this is actually better than most of the Odyssey- of course, The Odyssey also has one of the best songs of all time (The Odyssey), so that about evens the course between the two. This album's maybe a bit too long, but the songwriting and riffs are excellent, and from what I can understand of the lyrics, the concept is done very well too. Highlights: Set the World on Fire, Paradise Lost, Eve of Seduction, Seven. Probably my third favourite album of the year so far.

Think it's up there with The Odyssey which is awesome. I have always liked Twilight In Olympus even though it never seems to rate high In The Dragon's Den is one of my all time favourites great song. One thing I think is great with SX is the keyboard/guitar duels like Malmsteen and Jens used to in the 80s love that shit.

It's a ripping cd, might even rival The Odyssey. It's just so angry and straight-forward, with a monstrous production, and i think it works very well for them. The prog is definately still there too, even if it's not as much of it.

My only complaint about the cd is the ballads, or more specifically Paradise Lost. I feel it's a bit lame, like they needed a ballad and so they made one without much effort, Communion and the Oracle is just better in every aspect. But maybe it will grow on me still.

This is pretty heavy, isn't it? Everything else I'd heard from them had been pretty light and prog/powery, the track I heard ('Seven', I think) was more like Iced Earth. Good stuff, though, I must get something by these guys.

This is their heaviest release yet. Their sound haven't changed much but they managed to polish it over the years and add tighter songwriting which results in a great release.

Meh, I've listened to this a few times but haven't really got the hang of it yet. Truth be told though, I haven't had any concentrated listen yet, and I guess that will be crucial to fully digesting this album. I've a hard time believing this will top The Divine Wings Of Tragedy though.

I think it's better than Divine Wings...this has blown me away while Divine Wings took awhile to get into and even then I wouldn't score it as high as this. Divine Wings always seemed a little too wussy to me...
