I was just going to post this, I love it. I want an album of this quality.

I think it sounds exactly like something off of Focus but minus the growling.

Which is fine by me :)

I was watching all the new tour videos, they haven't lost their touch at all.. Paul and Sean are amazing musicians.

This is great. It sounds just like what was on Focus 14 years ago. Smooth, relaxing, complex/technical, well-orchestrated. The lack of growls is a little unusual (and kind of takes Cynic out of the progressive Death Metal genre and into, well, the standard progressive metal genre), but I think in a way they keep the song cohesive. The bandmembers seem like really nice people too.

Definitely look forward to hearing some new music by this underrated band.

If they release a new album I don't think it'll have growling because apparently on the Focus songs they played live they used pre-recorded growls. Looks like Paul doesn't want to do them anymore.

Very good. I watched footage of this performance, and wasn't too impressed, but this is a better quality recoridng. I actually think it could use more distortion on the vocals though, it sounds a little poppy at the moment, whereas on their studio work it sounded badass. The Focus songs I saw recent live footage of had this problem too.

For the record, Cynic had a slight pop sensibility even on Focus.

You think? I have to disagree with you on this one.

There's quite a difference between catchy and poppy though.

"Evolutionary Sleeper" sounds more Portal than Cynic but I like this shit. I've seen them live this year and they're still in form. But they were without Tegarden, so keys and growls were from the tape.. But I'm looking forward to hearing they're new music

Paul Masvidal sings, but only in clear parts.

The growling is pre-taped, the singing uses a vocoder to make his voice sound like teh robots
