Guys, no offense or anything but a lot of the responses I'm seeing to this event seem borderline hypocritical in a way. If an over-zealous Christian group does something like banning a metal show or publically slamming a metal band, that's automatically wrong. But if an anti-Christian group starts burning churches (and possibly killing a bunch of people to boot), that's okay. Metal is supposed to be about thinking for yourself. For the record, I think atheism has just as much propaganda, hypocracy, and yes immorality as Christianity (except that it isn't publicized as much because it's sort of become "trendy" to slam Christianity). And there are just as many people trying to ram things like evolution down everybody's throats (just look at what goes on in a lot of public schools here in the States) as there are Jesus freaks trying to ram the word of God down everybody's throats. I'm not saying I think you guys should change your religious beliefs or stances, but be a little more aware of your own biases. And don't let them cloud your judgement.
Most real life Christians are good people. They're not all "You must believe what I believe or you will burn in Hell!!!" Trust me.
For the record... atheism is not a religion, it does not hold any sorts of moral or ethics standards on its own.
and... how is teaching science in public school propaganda?!? .. and btw, teaching evolution/science in public schools is not exactly something that goes on in USA alone... it goes on in the whole western/modern world.
Is propaganda too if your math teacher try to convince his students that 2 plus 2 equals 4?
Of course, teaching evolution is not propaganda. It's something everybody needs to learn. Believe it or not, even Catholic schools teach it. I'm refering more to these extremists that do things like try to completely eliminate religious references from History classes. Which completely downgrades them since Religion played such a prominent role in World History (both in good ways and in bad ways). For example, can you imagine a course on Ancient Rome with absolutely no reference to Christianity? That's actually what some people are seriously trying to create.
America's become VERY politically correct. Basically, people are now trying to
fight discrimination with discrimination. For example, some colleges and universities are now trying to give minorities lower admission standards (I think U of M was even once talking about admitting black students with D-averages). Similarly, since Christmas has become so common, a lot of Jews and Atheists are upset and now the government is trying to go to the other extreme by prohibiting any references to "Christmas" in the media, in restaurants, etc. And yet, any reference to Hanukkah is perfectly acceptable.

we never had such "problems" in my country. We live in a seculized world, religion is private (unlike USA where it often gets mixed up with politics by retards) and science is tought in public schools - and most ppl here have figured out that you can believe in both science and god, except the lunatics of course... religion has a place in school too of course, but is not used as alternative to science.
I totally agree with you about believing in both God and Science (as I do). Which is where the other extreme comes into play - religious fundamentalists who actually think schools should be banned because they dare to teach things that might contradict a few lines in the Bible. For example, this one religious group that actually said (get this) those Virginia Tech students "deserved to die because college courses go against the word of God."
