Children of Bodom -- Children of Bodom

Something clicked for me with Hatebreeder yesterday...I used to think it was really really good, but now I can see why people hail it as the greatest CD instrumentally ever.

(also been listening to a lot of Rammstein)

Listening to the NONE EP right now by Meshuggah. This has to be one of the greatest metal EP's ever. :dio:

It's cool, but not really worth the hype, IMO.

I never really got into that Alcest EP either. Would like to hear their new full length though....

NP - Mistur - Skoddefjellet (demo)

Hmm, this came highly recommended to me. It's not bad but... Can you say, "total Windir clone"?

it's got a cool atmosphere, but through the whole thing I was waiting for something like an awesome guitar lead to really wrap things up but neither song ended up going anywhere.

I love that album. Nothing like taking a trip through madness to start the morning off right.

That's a tough question. Abruptum isn't really music, it's a dark noise project for the most part. I mainly listen to them when I'm meditating, as it leads to a rather interesting experience. If you liked the creepiness of the song "De Profundis Mors Vas Consumet" then you know what to expect with the rest of the EP with the same name. The only other one I'm totally familiar with is "Vi Sonus Veris Nigrae Malitiaes", which is a rather tough first listen, as it is only one track that lasts for well over an hour. I like that one better than the EP, as it's more manic and disturbed.

I'm not sure how to articulate the feeling I get from listening to Abruptum. It's just plain weird and very unique. But I'm a little crazy myself, so I like being immersed in tortured screams and droning non-riffs. It's def. not for everybody. Just remember that if you aren't willing to give it your complete and undivided attention it will come across as static.
