Despite the fact that the guys in Immortal are widely credited with getting Fenriz and NC into black metal, theres no immortal there. :huh:

Darkthrone got ABITNS out before Immortal got an album out, so maybe Fenriz feels they're not old school enough.

true. But they were in Funeral with Varg beforehand right? Anyway, Fenriz could have added heaps more bands that deserved to be there :P

I thought it was the whole Helvete/Mayhem thing that got Darkthrone to go black metal.[/i]

We're talking of old school black metal. Beherit isn't as old as most of the bands on that compilation but a pioneer in the Finnish BM scene. Mysticum just isn't old school, whatever way you look at it.

Throw Dissection's 'Storm Of The Light's Bane' into my list somewhere. I heard it for the first time the other day and I really liked it, especially 'Where Dead Angel's Lie'.
