I can't find a single UK website that stock any of them except Gallows Gallery, which I own. Recommendations would be much appreciated.

The last few albums should be pretty easily acquired, but the old stuff is near impossible to find. Try trading or just wait for the reissues.

Have reissues been announced? I'm assuming the release of Hangman's Hymn should result in at least Imaginary Sonicscape being reissued

Thanks for the info. I'm definitely going to grab that. One of the best metal records evert to come out of Japan.

Check out Scorn Defeat. A bit old-schoolish for your tastes perhaps, but highly original. The later albums are more weird.

Great! I just hope they ship to the UK.

Definitely strong death/thrash elements, but like all their work, Scorn Defeat incorporates a lot of different influences. It's a lot less schizophrenic and weird than the rest of their discography, and their strongest album when it comes to atmosphere IMO.

I'm having a bitch of a time finding their records even here in Japan! I'm starting to think that it's one of those cases where they caught on everywhere else except their home country...

Really? A friend of mine is going to Japan for a few weeks, and I was going to ask him to pick them up for me. Are they as undeground in Japan too?

Well, the first few albums were released on Deathlike Silence Prod. (Euronymous' record label) in Europe. I don't hink they had a much bigger deal in Japan. I'm not even sure if they had a deal in Japan?

I think UK label Cacophonous owns the rights to a bunch of their releases and the label/band relationship has grown contentious the label is simply sitting on them. Perhaps The End can negotiate something and reissue them.

I keep looking for them in the J-Metal section of record stores out here, but can't find them... if they just got something released on The End, though, they'll probably be in the import section.

Oh, if your friend goes to Tokyo, and is looking for metal, tell him to hit HMV (a big chain store with a good metal selection) and Disc Union (a smaller chain that has an entire store devoted to Metal).

My friend isn't really into metal. We have HMV over here too, and it's probably the best metal selection where I live (Hey, I even found a Negura Bunget album there once!) I'm not sure where he's going in Japan. He's staying with his brother, who's an English teacher over there.

On another note I found where the sonic weaponery is supposed to be on Gallows Gallery. It's on the untitled track (apparently) which would explain why it completely freaks me out, for no good reason.
