Well, I was kind of like that after my undergraduate. I worked at this software company and became self-sufficient finally, although I couldn't afford to pay off debts or anything, just live on my own without scabbing money. Then this year I am doing a masters, and it is kind of depressing to be back where I was, unable to support myself. If I ever managed to do a PhD to become Dr Rio I would have to get some big fat grant from somewhere. So yes, it's back to the real world in September. Hopefully I can get something I will enjoy doing, like an apprenticeship at some cool NGO or something, that would be the best case scenario for me.

Definitely Dr Rio for you then  !!! Wise as well as educated!

Thanks man :)

Now that my 4 month long holidays are winding down, it's time to reflect on all the stuff that I achieved during that period before returning to the abyss of study. Now let's see;

Had my first teaching experience with real highschool kids. This totally evaporated any anxiety over my future profession and now I just can't wait!
Saw Danzig in concert, which was a bittersweet thing.
Saw Kylie in concert. Not for the music, I just really would like to root her.
Saw Walking With Dinosaurs Live. Totally cool.
Seeing Little Britain Live this weekend.
Tiled my toilet. It has previously been untiled for 3 years.
Transformed my shitty, dirty storage room under the house into a cozy, comfy bar/study/entertainment room.
Bought a second Kakariki, but they won't mate - which is sad.
Wifey and I went on our first camping trip in 10 years.
Bought and learned the bass guitar.
Apocalypto finally came out.

That's about all I can think of right now. All I have left to do is tidy up the yard and clean out my aviary before going back to uni.

i feel like complete shit!
last night i had a fever and today it rose to 39ºC, i always feel like it's freezing, i have a coughing fit every 2 minutes and a huge headache. this is the second time in 2 months that i get sick, which pisses me off immensely because i usually had over a year between each time i got sick. also the cough has been tearing my throat apart since mid-december, i wish it would go away!

Just got back from seeing Little Britain Live. Remember the "I didn't do it" episode of the Simpsons? That pretty much sums it up.

Pretty awesome. I've got this whole week off from school, basically no homework over the break, and I just got Iced Earth's "Alive in Athens" in the mail and Biomechanical's "Eight Moons" is on the way. :dio:

Yeah, that show has pretty much ended up a Catchphrase spectacle. The Xmas specials (if you haven't seen them), were just poor as it relied on the 'phrases rather than the comedy.

If you've seen 'Extras' by Ricky Gervais, his 'Sitcom' in the second series pretty much sums up mainstream BBC comedy.

I moved to a new apartment yesterday. My bed wouldn't fit in the elevator, so we had to carry it through stairs to the 6th floor. Every muscle in my body hurts.

i'm feeling pretty good
went to a few awesome parties last night, celebrating my red card for kicking a jerk in the balls during a football match(which we won with 5-2) and laughing at r&b fuckers falling down because they drank those evil 'alcopops'

what's consumption?

anyways, my stepmum was here just a moment ago, with a box with some money in her hand "hahaha, it's for me!" i thought, but then she says "from now on you're putting 1€ here every month" and then i thought it was to buy something for the house... but NO!
you know where the money is going? huh? huh? TO THE FUCKING MANDIR (the Hindus' place of worship)!!! THE FUCKING MANDIR! AAAAAAAAAARGH!!! why the hell should we give them money? it's not like the gods have been treating the family well in recent years, what with dying relatives and the family business losing money for the first time since it first started, but hey, we're all a bunch of suckers, i mean, believers. we toss money at god and things will work out.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH HER?! the goddamn priest sends his kid (who btw is 4 and manages to have everyone hate her) to a private school and doesn't have significant expenses because everyone invites him over to dinner and lunch and shit and gets people to do him favours (drop me there, pick up my daughter from school, etc etc).

1€ a month isn't much (even for a cheap bastard like me), but that's not the point, you know?

and actually i'm not sure if money for the mandir is the same as money for the priest, but either way i'm pissed off. but i can't say anything because no one knows i'm an atheist

Yeah.

My school has been collecting money for some chick who has cancer, so they can do research and crap. What bullshit. Why should I donate? It's not like I have cancer.

A good cause is still a good cause...

I was being sarcastic about the first part, btw...

I dont get why you donate money to save cancer when money to fight other diseases would save more lives per $.
