I know... and Feeder. But Franz MOTHERfucking Ferdinand is Scottish, so I'll roll with that punch! Cool thing is though, despite those bands, is that the rockers and metallers community in Wales is thriving (sheep and maiden, beautiful!), there have never been as many rock/metal clubs and pubs down here as there is now (there's now 5 pubs and 2 clubs in Swansea alone compared to 2 and 1 this time last year). Beggars can't be choosers.

Manchester gave the world Joy Division, which KO's all your sub-par indie bands (although the Manics gave me pause).

The Welsh DM scene seems pretty good. Desecration are an excellent band...

They fucking rule! There's plenty of DM & HM bands appearing all over the place here. As I say, it's proper boom time for Metal in general as I was at a battle of the bands gig the other week where my mate's band, Order of Chaos (http://www.myspace.com/gbmt), were playing and I was at the bar with a whisky in my hand and a smile on my face at the quality coming through from everyone there.

Otherwsie music from Scotland almost uniformly sucks, but our local Metal scene is on the way up.

Aren't Dark Fusion scottish? Must suck a bit up there, though, as bands from a certain area do tend to just stay with the most successful sound (from Texas to Travis to FRANZ FERDINAND to Snow Patrol etc).

It can change though. It wasn't too long ago when every pub or club down here you went into played or had a Stereophonics act, a Catatonia wannabe or late Manics tribute.

Yeah, I hear Mendeed are on their third album or something now.
