I recently got my hands on Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Beethoven's Night" album and thought it was pretty neat to build up an album based on classical music. Do you know any other bands or people that has done the same?

TSO has done similar work with their Christmas albums as well. If you like it done in that style, there's some similar music on Savatage's later albums (since TSO basically grew from Savatage), mainly Dead Winter Dead and The Wake of Magellan. Several Progressive and Power Metal bands have used various forms of orchestration, but if you are speaking specifically of music by classical composers, the first thing that pops into my mind is early Angra, although Matos peculiar voice is only for certain tastes.

Yngwie Malmsteen, Stratovarius, At Vance, Adagio, Warmen... Do you mean Neo-classical metal? B/c there are a ton of bands out there who were influenced by classical music. If you mean a concept album about a classical musician, uh... I don't know to many. Check out Dragonland's song "Beethoven's Last Night."

Haggard!

There is an instrumental album by The Great Kat called 'Beethoven on Speed' which is her just shredding out songs inspired by Beethoven and other classical music inspired songs.

If you enjoy strings, check out Apocalyptica. It's 4 guys with celloes. They cover mainly Metallica but they also covered Pantera, Faith No More and 'Angel of Death' by Slayer.

Maybe try listening to Virgin Black. They aren't classical music per se but I like them and they are definitely interesting. They use a cello and a piano to create a really dramatic sound.

There's a noticeable classical music influence in Symphony X's music. The guitarist digs loads of classical stuff.

And he is a heck of a guitarist.

How about Winds? The Imaginary Direction of Time was an excellent album.

Apart from the already named bands I would keep in mind :
- Richard Andersen's music (bands Time Requiem and Space Odyssey and Majestic)
- Adagio
- Ring Of Fire
- Vitali Kupriji's solo stuff
- Aesma Daeva

On the new Dark Moor album, Tarot, there is a song that is 11 and a half minutes of Beethoven stuff played power metal style. It will surely blow you away.

And I'm just now listening to Suite Lingua Mortis of Rage's last album, Speak of the Dead. Also incredible symphonic metal.

Uhh... Dago dude, that is the dumbest thing you've said. They are heavily influenced by classical music. Whether you think their music represents it or not, Luca Turilli enjoys classical music and composes it through Rhapsody.
