Haven't heard it, sort of want to but not enough to go buy it or even spend a while downloading it. What other BM is it comparable to anyway?

Hmm, I can't think of a band off of the top of my head. First it sounds nothing like the Demon Burger they have become, and secondly it's really melodic. But not in a we covered everything in a layer of Synth cheese way. It doesn't even really sound like Stormblast. I guess it sounds more "Honest" than anything they've ever done since. Silenoz does the Vocals on it, and Shaggy is nicely tucked away behind a Drum Kit, so no shitty Vocoder garbage. Overall it's a pretty laid back album, but it works. I listen to it a lot more than anything else by them.

I want to say it sounds a little like early Ancient, another band who started out good and went down a bad path, but I'm afraid that might put people off.

Hit, BTW.

Pretty good album, however I think that 'Stormblåst' is better.

I like it quite a bit, its old style black metal, but leaning a little more melodic with mid paced rythems instead of pure blast, good stuff.

Yeah its definitely a left-field kinda album.....

its........yeah its really hard to describe Rad...

ike its melodic, but not aggressive, its laid back... so i wouldnt compare it to fof, taake or windir...

Its got the whole pagan/love of the past thing going on, including some sections of (not that great) clean vocals...

plus some piano/synth stuff that slays, just the keyboards going solo.

Its worht at least a download for sure

By the way, Ancient's debut shouldn't be putting people off. It's excellent, totally underrated.

Indeed, but usually when I mention Ancient, the first thing people say is "Isn't that the band that did that Mad Grandoise Bloodfiends CoF wanna-be shit?" I reply "Yes", and they no longer want to check out Svartlaheim. It's their loss though.

Nice mention guys. Ancient's debut is still a great listen.

They just fell a lot faster than most of their countrymen.

I've only heard it once, and based on that listen I'd say hit. While I prefer the later albums, this is still an album worthy of my attention.
I should give it another listen.

I don't listen to it much, but whenever I do, I dig it.

And the cover art is one of my favorites.

So I guess that means a hit for me.

Hit, no doubt.

I find the atmosphere on thi salbum pre-dates what would be known as Depressive BM by several years.

hmmmm, no misses, all hits.

Considering how their recent efforts are regarded, im very surprised.

Im sure there would be a much different pattern in voting if i made a poll about death cult armageddon :P

I've been meaning to check this out, but I'm still a little unsure as 99% of Symphonic BM is crap.

Old Dimmu is pretty good musically, but knowledge of their later endeavors makes it hard for me to enjoy. If you have no problem with or can put aside the band's complete poserdom, then definitely check it out.

This one is definitely good. Like Jurgen said, just ignore everything afterwards
