Good job on the review Daniel, however I do not agree with everything, I thoroughly enjoyed it. For me the melodies do not flow like they did on Nattestid, and therefor the music is not as hypnotic as on that one, you pointed that out with the dreaming thing though. This album sounds indeed more like Bjoergvin, and I have not yet made up my mind which of the two I prefer. However I liked the hypnotic and flowing taake more, this one is INCREDIBLE as well and has more folky influences, this too will be one of my favaorite album for a very long time. 85 or 90 out of 100, I can't decide yet...

Need to get this one fast. Also looking forward for that Taake/Vidsyn split 7" that is supposed to come out later this year.

But, if I have understood right, Taake is on ice now after this release. No live shows or new full-lenghts will come in a long while.....

Dear Misha,

First of all let me congratulate you for your excellent reviews (specially the Noenum one); you're doing a great job as a reviewer.

And second, let me exlplain. Obviously nattestid is better in all aspects, once I write my archive review it will become obvious. As for the flowing aspect, you must admit (as we have discussed it in the past) that Taake has the unique ability to make the rififng blend seamlessley, and by that I mean that the riffs connect each other as two perfect puzzle pieces. As I said before, I consider Nattestid to be overall better, and that means that things flow even better, but at the end of the day, we must admit that few bands are capable of creating such flowing Black Metal.

Hails my brother and partner in arms!

Thanks Daniel, I'm really glad you liked the reviews. Now we fully agree again, it was a bit unclear for me. Maybe it flows less because of the absence of synths and the better production. Anyways, still a real killer with a killer review  I'm glad we agree on the score too, I guess usually you're 10 points higher than me and this is another example...

Yup, by the album itself is quite cool too, lyrics in runes, and cd is all black with a very very dark grey print on it, only when it reflects in the light you can see it. Do you already have it Daniel?

to respond to your claims of BM having trouble evolving...Isn't it the stranglehold of a minority of pigheaded elitists who are halting the progresssion of black metal? I really can't recall if there was such a movement for death metal in either Florida or California\New York, but the genre was able to flourish with a variety of styles from Morbid Angel's to Death's to Cannibal Corpse's. Is it just a pride thing? Do they have nothing else to do but ruin a superb genre because they want it to be "theirs"?

Uhm, those are more like saving it, the ones trying to sell out are the ones that ruin everything. There are a lot of styles and ideas in traditional BM left unexploited and a lot of new styles discovered by those elitists you speak about, Taake's style is an example of that.

As the review clearley explains the problem with BM is that clonezs of the early/mid 90's are everywhere and also that the bands that "evolve" loose the point or essence of Black Metal (Dimmu Borgir).

As Misha kindly pointed out, elite is evolving while staying pure and true.

Very good review, actually closer to an essay in style, especially in the first part.

I want this album NOW.

Not yet, but I've heard it is quite good; as for the artwork it seems to be excatly like the last two albums. Does the cd have a kind of castle printed?

Thank you; as for the essay style... well, I wanted to do something complete and informative, something that made clear that Taake is a godly band.
