Best news ever!!

Avantasia Pt 1 is what got me into Power Metal (let alone any European metal - the only other metal I knew at the time was Savatage).

I'm still surprised it's Avantasia though and not a new concept entirely. He stated strongly for the longest time there will never be a Pt 3 because it was meant to be a two album thing (story and all). He has hinted at working on a new project for awhile, but this still surprised me!

Hopefully this is going to be his true epic power metal writing, and not his joking around Trinidad metal. :dio:

I think it might be called Avantasia like a band name because alot of people see it that way anyway, and then the album would actually carry a different title. Or maybe he woke up one day with a new idea for an actual Avantasia story.

Is Avantasia a world or a kingdom? I can't remember. Either way, he can easily write another story within that world or kingdom.

I guess it's somewhere inbetween. it's like another realm or dimension. The story possibilities are endless. I just hope that if he does base it in Avantasia that it's a worthwhile story to be told. The original story leaves alot to live up to.

Great news. I knew Tobi wouldn't abandon his Avantasia project so easily. :dio:

THAT IS AMAZING NEWS!
Rocket Ride didn't impress me at all though, let's hope he can make something worthy of the Avantasia name.

I'm wondering now if Tobi just had to get that hard rock bug out of his system, and now that he's done it, he's ready to get back to some epic, operatic power metal :D

I still like most of Rocket Ride for what it is though (minus a couple of B-sides masquerading as album cuts).

The first two Avantasia albums are next t perfect. Let's hope this album can keep the same pace.

From Tobi's site:

ERIC SINGER DRUMMER OF AVANTASIA!

As previously reported Tobias is working on another Avantasia album. KISS' drummer Eric Singer is the drummer of Avantasia this time.

"We've recorded the drums in Hamburg at Vox-Klangstudio, where we recorded the drums of Edguy's Hellfire Club too. Great room, great equipment! Eric is a killer drummer and a cool guy to work with. It is really exciting to hear his interpretation of European style Metal. It definitely adds something fresh and unique to the sound, mainly because he's got a different approach to that kind of music. And although he doesn't do it with Alice Cooper, Kiss and SpongeBob Squarepants' solo band: There IS fast doublebass shit on Avantasia, and Eric did a great job!!! You'll hear it, it's fantastic. Go visit his website www.eric-singer.com and leave him a nice message!
Anyway, listening to the material so far I can really say that even though the new Avantasia will be a different conceptual story, the ambition remains the same: To create something epic and big! Or how Eric put it, Let's make some kewl music! No doubt, the spirit of Avantasia is there - in every note. Happy new year everybody and let's have a great and peaceful 2007. - Tobias"

The best thing about this news is that he mentions "European style metal" and "fast doublebass shit". I hope this means it will sound more like previous Avantasia and less like current Edguy. It also means the recording is well underway :)

Ken, should this be another seperate news item?

I always thought it was funny that Singer was on previous the previous albums.

They are already recording? Wow, I thought they were at a much earlier stage of the process. Good news indeed.

He played drums on the last track on part 2. Alex Staropoli of Fire did the rest.
