I need other people to start voting, because I can't remember everything that came out this year.

Just put up a temporary list. I havet to be to work soon, so I'm just throwing a quick list together. I'll finish it when I get home tonight.

BTW, where do we put SYL?

Yeah, I just put up a first guess at a list for my top 15 overall. I'm sure it will change a few times.

Also, where do we put Trollfest and Tyr?

I'd say Tyr in the Power Forum and Trollfest in this forum... I guess.

If Keep of Kalessin doesn't count as BM I'm going to have a non-existant vote in that poll.

God I suck at BM.

I think the new SYL is for alt. metals maybe....?

Can I get away with Venom in the Thrash poll?

Are you going to vote for those in the voting thread?

ah.. i had forgotten about Archgoat's and Haatstrijd's new albums. I have replaced the Frostkrieg on my list, it wasn't really a full-lenght album, and it consisted of both new, old and live songs.

Keep of Kallesin isn't black metal? What is it, then?

And I would put SYL in the Avant-Garde thread with Devin's solo stuff.

In retrospect, this year was horrible for thrash. Two albums I would rate above 80%: Tankard and Sodom. Two above 75%. Witchery and Vader (even though Vader is kind of deathy). One other that was decent (Sadus). Thats about all I can think of, shit.

Keep of Kalessin - black
Anaal Natrakh - black
Vader - death

Scars and Chaosfear put out some killer thrash albums this year, but they're EPs. Actually, the Chaosfear CD may be 8 tracks; I'll have to check that tonight.

I haven't heard the Chaosfear; checking on Metal Archives reveals it is a full length. I'll definitely give it a listen, so thanks. Scars EP, even if it had been an album, was released in 2005, though.

You're right. I even put 2005 in the review. Poopy.

Check out my Chaosfear review or just got to http://www.myspace.com/chaosfear and listen to some tracks. "Denied Rights" is awesome! BW&BK gave the Chaosfear CD a 9.5. Word.

And this would have been a top release if reissues were allowed:

I really want this band's albums, too:

I´m wondering where Amorphis - Eclipse should go. There are lots of (melodic) death metal there, but also songs like House of Sleep that are more like heavy metal.

EDIT: I checked the review and it classifies Eclipse as "Progressive / Folk Influenced Heavy Metal". Prog then ? Heavy ? Death ?

Yeah KoK is definitely black for me. I remember talking in its review thread about how it didn't have true BM spirit, but musically I think you have to class it thusly. Good album, may be in my top five BM.
