I have (zomg illegal) mp3s of In the Court of the Crimson King and Red - both excellent. I probably prefer In the Court of the Crimson King. The title track is one of the coolest songs ever.

Yes, I have those two albums, Brilliant. I'm planning to get their entire career at a point.

King Crimson is one of the forum's most popular non-metal bands I'd say, and justifiably so. I own nearly all their albums, and Red+In the Court remain my favorites as well. But many people are bigger fans of Larks Tongue in Aspic, which I enjoy quite a bit as well.

I never wanted to check out King Crimson because I hate King Diamond. I didn't suspect they were so different, so I got completely blown away by red. Starless is such an amazing song. I strongly recommend Soft Machine - Third, that song Rageous is even better!

I like Root indeed, but for some reason I found Kind Diamond to be very very silly.

Big Boss' vocal style is not as over the top as King Diamond's, but they share a certain theatrical (for lack of a better word) vibe. And musically Root and King Diamond/Mercyful Fate are pretty similar.

But yeah, i see your point.
