I'm floored. So floored I can't pick myself up. This is one masterpiece of dark, depressive, opressive doom art, illuminated when least expected by subtle haunting melodies (Blessed Be The Dead, Essence Of Black) or unbelievable beautiful solos (Upon Within). Lowe's vocal lines go from mournful to powerful to whispers to utter sadness, while Perez and Moseley alternate mid-tempo crushing riffs with the slow, agony tormented ones.

Stylistically, I'd say it's somewhere in between Through The Darkest Hour and Downfall, which is great imo, since I didn't enjoy Adagio that much. Oh, and there is this magnificent song, Tomorrows Dead, which follows exactly the recipe of Eternal (Dream Of Immortality part II), extremely slow, almost monotone verses, painfully dragging along, that after two thirds of the song suddenly burst into a powerful unforgetable chorus. I can't get enough of it.

Solitude Aeturnus are back in style, they better stay here this time.

I can only disagree with your Adagio comment. Personally I love that album! But Alone is fucking KILLER!! I got a promo of the regular version, but I'm waiting for the digipak to arrive (hopefully today) with the 10-minute bonus track.

The album is stunning! "Floored" is the right word, indeed! "Tomorrows Dead" is my current fav, it gives me goose bumps!

BAH! It didn't arrive today. John said he should have the digipaks by the 14th. I wanna hear that bonus track!

Is it just me or is this album more doomy and more heavy metal at the same time? More than previous albums? It's like they've found the most perfect balance.

I wonder if I should review this album or not? I seriously can't find a flaw with it. Not a single flaw. 100/100?

Based on the two of you's praises for the album I listened to it and I have to agree that it is very good. I'm basically new to SA but I would like to hear more. Thanks for your recommendations.

Every album is awesome, in my opinion. Just know that Downfall has a terrible mix job, one that the band despises themselves. It does have its charm, though. The music is awesome, so the mix gives it a lot of character after a while. Now, after years and years, I can't imagine it sounding any different.
