Also, can someone tell me why all the news is about tiny obscure bands and labels and webmasters lately???

That would be me! I try and post news on these bands as they're often overlooked by the bigger news sites, mainly Blabbermouth which is essentially where everyone checks on music news (and we often copy news from).

I stopped by the site last night, saw that message and then wrote up this little newsbit. The "tiny obscure" bands deserve support, too. Generally, of course, it's not as negative as this bit. Haha.

Yeah, what the fuck were they thinking? I just cannot concieve of four grown men agreeing to call thier heavy metal band "Fairyland."

Well, they first tried Fantasia, Fantasy and Ferreol. Apparently Fairyland sounded much less gay.

Sucks to be that guy. Now I definitely don't feel bad about owning a burned copy of "Of Wars in Osyrhia."

Agreed with both statements :P

By the way, Fairyland was not bad at all. Quite possibly the most flowery power metal band ever, but some songs off of "Of Wars in Osyrhia" are freaking amazing.

Others, however, are terribly bland. Its a difficult listen.

Also, you guys are making it hard for me to bring back my Cassidy avatar. :? Decisions, decisions. Intarnet is indeed hard shit.

In any case, if anyone wants to visit their new site, it's at http://www.fairyland-metal.com. Looks great, but it sucks if what that other guy wrote on their old site is true. I'm still curious about their new album though. :P

Try reading the biography. I challenge you to make it all the way to the end.

Heavenly are French too, but they make up for the gay name by being good. Fairyland are gonna have to be the best band ever to make up for that pink frilly shirt of a name. Or actually be gay, that would get them off the hook i suppose.

I love the ass kiss news post:

We are currently under contract with the world-renowned management team Intromental. we have been working for about 4 years with them, and we enjoyed every part of it.

Mainly, the management team is composed of Claus Jenssen and Lars F. Larsen, danish guys with a passion for heavy and prog metal. Claus used to be a national news-press metal chronicler, and it helps to aknowledge that someone who decides to take care of your band knows a bit about the metal scene :). Lars, on the other hand, is more "in the system". He is the singer of the great danish metal band Manticora, and a hell of a headbanger on stage and in the pit!

Both these guys are doing some amazing work, and our futur partly depends on them. So a big hail to Intromental! Don't forget to visit their site (http://www.intromental.com) where you can get the latest news about the bands they're taking care of, but also a good bunch of reviews and other services (need some cover artwork, web design...? that's the bunny! :p)

Take good care...

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

I agree with what Eyesore pointed out.

WTF is someone's problem commenting about the bands the news are about?! You obviously ain't a fan of power metal so why not just disregard the news? You don't see me coming to complain if there's news about some Norwegian Duudensgagen making their new it-must-be-grim album. Coz I don't care.

Also what's up with everyone dropping the gay-word like it was the next best thing?! I can't see why u feel so strongly gay about it? I've always thought Fairyland is just some place from a fantasy book or children's tale, like Neverland...? :|

Fairyland is just too soft and pretty, I guess. The album is actually really great and the work they put in is excellent with the fold out map of Osyrhia and whatnot. Osyrhia would have been a fitting name, or something a little less generic than Fairyland.

I see... It seemes to be in the feeling it provokes not the name itself as I thought :)

I do have the album btw  ...I don't think Fairyland is generic, the only place where I've seen it besides this is the Freedom Call album (Stairway To Fairyland)...

Hi.

I just came in to try and explain that whole website business:

our former webmaster had offered to do our site for free, no charges, nothig, hosted by him and all. After 6 months of waiting, he finaly came up with a decent version and we approved it. Then, as soon as it was online he asked us to pay 1500 euros + 250 for hosting. And as some of you might have noticed, no updates were made at any time. So I just went to my best friend, who IS a webdesigner, and he did our new site for free.

that's the end of it. And whatever happens, I don't think encouraging people to download our songs as a mean of revenge will drive him anywhere. Point is, OVH (old host for the site) actually closed the page because it was offendent and illegal...

ok, our name is lame, but it was not intended to mean anything gayish in the first place. fairyland is derived from an old gaellic legend about the world of the unreal. I didn't know about the slang meaning of Fairy when I found it. But we won't change at any cost, since everyone knows us with this name. And I love reading all those comments about us being gay. If we actually were gay, I wonder if we could sue everyone for homophobia :D

Sheers anyway, and thanks for your interest...

Philippe Giordana, Fairyland

Wow, an actual band member on MR. :dio: Sorry I made fun of your band name...but its a bit rubbish.

Still its good to hear both sides of the story. I now retract my 8 month old "bwahahahaha" and tentatively apply it to the old webmaster.

I told you guys a lot of bands visit this site! And Phil, don't take to heart a bunch of people bustin' joke on a forum. Many people said Fairyland kicked ass! So that's what matters, I'd say. :dio:

And Phil, get the new CD a distro deal in the US! I can't find it anywhere!
