Wolf for me, that double bass drumming is a real kick to the groin. Overall I listened to this album over and over again when it came out, but I can't say I've given it a spin ever since. Nothing really fresh sounding on it to keep you interested long term imo. Much like their latest stuff.

Bah! Iced Earth have yet to release a bad album.

Though I'm not a fan of TGB, I've come to like some of the songs (particularly the Trilogy) so I would have to agree with you. Saying that Iced Earth hasnt released a bad album yet says a lot about how good the music was on the s/t debut considering how bad Gene Adam's vocals are on it.

Gotta vote for "The Phantom Opera Ghost" as my top track on Horror Story. Matt's and the female singer's vocals harmonize just perfectly and makes the fur on my tail go all frizzy. S'pose all the other tracks are really shit-hot as well but I'm a sucker for a little bit of female warbling now and then. As for where Horror Show ranks in the 'Best Of Iced Earth' rankings, I'd say a close second after "Something Wicked This Way Comes". The three disk "Alive In Athens" is really the best Iced Earth album ever, but, as it's a compilation, it can't be in the running. My jury is still out on "The Glorious Burden" probably cos Tim's vocals are so different to Matt's that my addled brain fails to acknowledge it as Iced Earth. Hopefully the next album, continuing in the vein of SWTTC, will redress the issue of Tim's vocals for me and get me rocking again.

I never had a problem with tims vocals, the downfall the TGB was the song writing. I got none of the Classic IE feel with any of them. Also i didn't connect with the subject matter which is key to the whole album. But i can't wait for this next one, Demons & Wizards lastest was pretty awesome so i got high hopes. As for best IE album, i'd have to say Days Of Purgatory. And if you don't count that as a real album then SWTWC.

I went with Wolf, great tune! But I can enjoy the entire album any time I listen to it. But I don't understand the love for Phantom of the Opera Ghost. I just don't likt that song.

Quoted for truth! I found TGB songs to be mediocre at best.
As for the best album I'd have to go with Night of the Stormrider, man even though Barlow doesn't sing on it the songs are so amazing that it more than makes up for that! Every song just kicks so much ass.

I approve of the amount of IE talk on this board lately and I can't wait to hear the next album. Bring back the riffs!

I have to go with Dracula on this one. A beautifully written dark love song. Dracaula loses some of it's power and focus at the end though. The song kind of drifts off without coming to a conclusion.

Damian and Jack would be the runners up. Of all Iced Earths's CDs , Horror Show took the longest for me to get in to.

Fuckin' Dracula. :dio: :dio: :dio:

Frankenstein and The Phantom Opera Ghost are runners up for me.

Horror Show rules. It definately picks up toward the end for me... but then it's probably because my three favorite songs are at the end.
