Great review, girl! Did you "chat" at all, or was it very formal? Like, question, answer, question, answer, etc.?

Very formal, because of the circumstances. It was awesome, but I was incredibly nervous, and it's really obvious listening to the recording.

Indeed, really nice interview! If I have to give some sort of criticism, be it that some of the questions are a bit the same, and hence the answers too. It's not really annoying though.

What's so wrong in that? I think it's true.

Jazz is just for those who are pussied enough to dig metal.

Thank you all for your kind words! While I was typing this up, I was convinced that it was the worst interview ever done. I do sound really nervous on the recording, though.

I agree with Hegg on this one.

I'm not talking jazz. What do you all consider classical music by the way?

This is just Misha's weekly post on how much smarter he is than every metalhead because he has moved past it. You folks are wasting your breath on our beloved male model poster.

I guess my question to you is: Since you obviously believe that metalheads falsely think their taste in music is well...good, why not take a friendy attitude towards disillusioning us all? You'll win more converts that way, and also not be perceived as an arrogant jerk. Some of your recommendations fell flat with me, but Hawkwind was a real winner. Ultimately I think we all win if you play the role as the friendly "beyond metal" guy that respects other people's taste here but tries to gently turn us on to less limiting music, and not the guy constantly sniping at metal and its fans.

The usual. Beethoven, Brahms, Bach, Wagner, Orff (you can't tell me those last two aren't the great-great-great-times-whatever granddaddies of metal, at least in the spirit it embraces), Mahler, Mozart, Grieg (Savatage anyone?), Rachmaninoff, Mussorgsky (how much more parallel do I have to get here?)...that sort of thing.

As far as subgenres of Rock (which could be considered a section of Folk music) go, I would say progressive rock is closer to classical than metal. Take Aereogramme's new album, its pretty much baroque string/piano compositions with rock songs placed over top, or vice versa . I find discussions of this sort kinda pointless though, and I'm also against comparisns to certain genres or styles being used as insults or complements.
