I'm just starting to get into them right now. I plan on buying their None EP off iTunes probably next month (I don't really want Contradictions Collapse). Which of their albums do you guys recommend?

I = the best thing they've done

Catch33 is the only actual album of theirs I listen to... I'm not totally sure why, but their "normal" songs have never interested me much.

I recommend you spend your money on something else. They're boring, repetitive, and so overrated it's not even funny.

Yeah Nothing is my favourite of theirs. Better than I and Contradictions Collapse, although the ones that are supposed to be their best (DEI, Catch 33) are the ones I don't own :unsure:

Destroy Erase Improve would be your best bet to start out with, but Nothing is definitely their best album and my favorite. Their re-releasing it at the end of this month with a bonus DVD.

Oh, and Ken, just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's overrated. :mad:

Well, to me it's overrated. I usually avoid discussing bands I dislike, but the reason why I even choose to mention this is because I can't understand why this band gets so much praise! There are tons of bands that I don't like that I can understand why some would like them; yeah, they're cool for [insert whatever style here], but not my thing, etc.

The thing with Messhugga is that I just don't hear anything remotely good in anything they do. And yes, before anyone suggests it, I have listened to everything countless times trying to connect with it. I just cannot do so on any level. Rarely there is a band that does this to me.

So yeah, I find this band to be utterly overrated in every sense.

I also find it a little bit overrated at times, but still i think it's a band that plays a unique style of metal and plays it good.

You also think that originality is overrated. :rolleyes:

Actually I'm pretty sure someone has... you'd just need to look at some weird porn to find it.

Yeah, I get your point and I agree with it that originality for the sake of originality is pointless.

Hardly. I could rap over myself slapping my dick against some wind chimes, that would be original, but it would also suck.

Neither of the examples you guys gave would be original, they would just suck. They also have very little to do with what I was saying but oh well.

BWAHAHA!! That would hurt dude!

I can understand your problem with Meshuggah. When people hype up a band, it makes them suck that much more if you don't like what you heard.

I guess I would attribute my love of Meshuggah to my love of indie rock like Shellac, etc. that showcase the "math rock" style, but I can definitely understand how some won't like them.
