No, you're not doing that at all. You're trying to convince people that Trivium sucks. You're doing nothing that shows people there are better bands out there. Heatseaker is a new fan to metal, total noob, are you helping him here? Are you really trying to open his eyes to new bands, or are you simply trying to open his eyes to your opinion?

Ha! I won't take that as an insult because it's totally true...but hey, what can I do but listen to more metal?

And also, I just realized that Eternal Idol's post doesn't really make that much sense...the only part that does is that there are better bands out there than Trivium.

I love the "just my opinion" crowd. It's like a Get Out Of Jail Free card.

IMO, saying that its just your opinion is kind of pointless because its pretty much a given. It just makes you look like less of a dick.

example:

Quote:
Trivium is worthless pop-metal garbage that is as far as possible from being anything remotely artistic.

vs

Quote:
I consider Trivium to be worthless pop-metal garbage that is as far as possible from my definition of art.

When most replies in the other forums are Hellheim worthy, then yeah, the board has gone downhill.

It makes a good point that love it or hate it Trivium is going to be huge and the "hair metal" of the new generation. Easy, paint by numbers metal.

Some of you fail to realize that it's not 1983 anymore.

I get that, it is just going to be the popular metal of this generation.

If you listen to some of the metalcore bands now, they're not incorporating simply little paint-by-numbers metal riffs and leads. A lot of bands now have actually incorporated some very classy and imaginative metal parts. I'm not speaking of Trivium, I think musically they've had it down pretty good since the debut. I'm simply making the point that as we get old and a younger generation of musicians/band emerge we do have to be open for that, else we'll miss out on a lot of great music.

Dislike Trivium all you want, but it'll lead to good things, no doubt.

I am not into that stuff so I doubt I will ever hear it. I think the only thing remotely Metal Core I ever owned was New American Gospel from Lamb of God. Other then that, not a single ounce of it have I heard.

I belive his point is we should be arguing for 8+ pages about "I - Between Two Worlds" being the best album of 2006 or not.
