eBay bans extreme metal?

Added Dan Ferguson of Indianapolis, IN's Abyss Records: "I had a number of items removed and account suspended by selling black metal. It seems a group of so-called Christians have been reporting black metal bands (even though eBay has black metal as a search genre) as all racist and hateful and discriminatory."

The items that were allegedly removed by eBay because they "violated the eBay Hateful or Discriminatory policy" are as follows:

In eBay's e-mail to Ferguson explaining their decision to remove his listing, they write, "eBay doesn't permit sellers to list items that promote or glorify hatred, violence, or racial intolerance. Items that promote organizations with such views are also prohibited.

"eBay will judiciously disallow listings or items that promote or glorify hatred, violence or racial intolerance, or items that promote organizations (such as Nazis, neo-Nazis and Aryan Nation) with such views. This policy also applies to listings that offer shipping to countries where certain items may be illegal."

now it get's even harder to find those awsome rareties. Hopefully i can still get Vinterriket and Paysage D'hiver.
Is it only black metal or will the same happen to death metal?

I don't really know...all those albums listed are BM, but it says "black/extreme metal. ANyway this is completely ridiculous, I mean, extreme metal isn't exactly the only genre that "promotes or glorifies" hatred and/or violence... :lame:

that would probably fit black metal just well. Very undergroundish like in Russia back in the days. Just like in Iran where black metal illegal, yet a few ppl make black metal in that country. :wink:

no, it actually kinda suck. But these days ppl are more religious than they were 30-10 years ago, at least in my country. But who knows, it'll probably change over time, so one generation is religous, the next generation is rebelling against the old generation, thus not as religious and visa versa.

anyway, i can see what's wrong selling black metal on ebay. It's only a few ppl who buy it anyway, so it's not really any remarkable hate spreading or anything, besides, ppl can just get it elsewhere anyway. So they have stopped nothing!!! :dio:

I don't think it'll be a big issue here, in the Netherlands, people don't give a shit about religion. It's ridiculed by commedians to further extend than what black metal can ever do.

just like the most famous commedian in denmark who dropped a bomb during his show this year " Shit christians in the mouth!!!", of course half of the audience didn't find all that funny, he he. It's worth mentioning that his show was split in two parts, one very possitive about everything and very negative about the everything, same matters that where talked possitive about in the first part, except the christianthing, which was only brought up in the negative part.

yup.
perhaps it's only the big labels that aren't allowed to sell. I actually think this is somewhat "old news", cuz several sellers have been writing " Freedom of Speech... this Moonblood tape is not racistic nor hateful, so plz don't remove it.." etc etc for several months now.
anywho, i ebay wants to free itself from hateful stuff or stuff that can cause hate to accur, then they have a big problem. Then religious books, ferrari, science, rap etc etc. has to go too.

haven't heard it. I once won it on ebay, but i didn't get it, since the seller realized it wasn't in stock, he already sold it. Got my money back of course
