Goddamnit Epistemological Despondency by Esoteric is such a great album. For me this is really the peak so far for avant-garde ultra-doom. KO's Sunn 0)))), Khanate etc.

I can't argue with that!

Which Esoteric do you have? I've been looking for Metamorphogenesis for a long time, but I'm having no luck with the usual places I go to for CD's.

In that case, this is your lucky day. I have Metamorphogenesis (courtesy to lizardtail). It would seem I have to expand my Esoteric selection with Epistemological Despondency though.

That would be very nice. With the description you gave it a few posts ago it looks like I'm in for a treat. Thanks. If I can upload you something in return just say the word.

Hmm, I'd be interested in hearing anything else of their stuff, because E.D.'s the only thing I have of theirs.

I'll get onto uploading it right away. If anyone else wants the link except Eisenfaust say so.

I'll mention that my favorite Esoteric is the double-album, "The Pernicious Engima". I hope you folks have heard/or get a chance to hear that one too.

I always have a hard time picking a favorite, though I've only heard Metamorphogenesis a few times, so it never gets a fair shake.

rio, is your Epistemoligical Despondency the remaster? I used to have the original version, and it definitely could've used a touch up or two.

I had heard like one song before, but both Electric Wizard and Reverend Bizzare are confirmed as being awesomely cool.

Not everyone has to like everything. :) I only like Candlemass's debut.

INFIDEL!!!

Of course everyone does not have to like everything, but the songs in question is Solitude and Under the Oak from Epicus...

Epicus.. is also the best Candlemass album as far as I'm concerned. Johan Langquist's mournful voice makes the music so much more powerful than Messiah's vocals.

Indeed, I'm glad we are on the same page about Epicus.

Epicus is easily the best Candlemass album, but I'd still give the nod to Messiah for vocals. Yes, Johan's vocals are perfect for Epicus and I'd never want them replaced, but Messiah is the stronger vocalist overall, and he's got some classic albums under his belt too. I would rate Nightfall only slightly lower than Epicus.

Oh, I agree. Messiah is the better vocalist, but Langquist's vocals just gives the music a more massive emotional impact. I like Nightfall very much as well, but Epicus... is the undisputed highlight of Candlemass in my opinion. I know that many people will disagree with me on this one.

Doomraiser

This group is not out to change the face of doom, or force innovation just to impress the world with their originality. This is old-school doom. They're going to have a certain heavy Sabbathy sound, shown in the demo of 2004. The only quarrel I have is that they need more guitar solos!
