In regards to "buying songs." It's a new thing that was developed a little over a year ago. Apple started their own "music buying" service called iTunes, and Napster followed suit by re-opening for business with the same idea. Basically, the way it works is you download the appropriate program, and you can buy a song for $1.00, or an entire album for $10. Quite useful when there's a CD with several songs you like, but several you just can't stand. And also since you can't download shit with these fileshare programs anymore now that the RIAA has been cracking down so much on illegal music trade - which in a way I understand, but still.

As it is, I downloaded every song from Burn My Eyes except "None But My Own" and "Real Eyes, Realize, Real Lies" (the latter really being just a filler song anyway). Overall, I still like The More Things Change a little better, but Burn My Eyes is certainly a credible metal album - even with its immense influence on the nu-metal scene.

I think its pretty retarded. I'm not going to buy something that I can only have on my computer. I'll just download the songs for free, and if I enjoy the album, I'll buy it.

indeed ! I downloads loads of stuff I will never even burn to a cd... and when the music really suits me, I buy the cd to get the full stuff and not just mp3...

I can understand you want to stay on the legal side of things... but I think 1$ is way too expensive for just encoded data...

You can burn these songs on CD, you know. That's what I did when I downloaded them.

Pretty much every song I download I eventually burn on a specific "Cuts from Album" CD or "Various Trax" CD.

Lol, ofcourse you can, that is not the point, the point is, why do you want to burn them without having the album if you can just download them for free as well?

I personally don't give a shit about MP3's. It's good for prelistening a CD if I consider purchasing it.

For me it's exactly the same as for Gast1 and that french hippie: I want to touch it, feel it, read the lyrics and booklet, admire the artwork of the cover, back and inserts and most of all some tangible piece of art of which I can be proud of to possess!

But hey, I'm just an old(fashioned) bastard (31 years).

i use DC++ metalhead, but you'll need some songs to start with if you want to use that. i'd say go for emule.

and to doc: having a cd is ofcourse the best, but mp3's are good to check out LOADS of bands, I always order (no decent shop around), so i can't prelisten the albums.

Sorry Gast but I just dont' get it.. Same with Mystic Forest - Green Hell and Xasthur - A Gate Through Bloodstained Mirrors. Many of the black metal listeners on this site seem to love these albums but I just don't get it.. The music has merit but the production makes it sound so terrible.. I don't understand.

That said, one particular band you've been harping on about that I did like was Taake. Nattestid is quite decent and Bjoergvin is fantastic. Some of the riffs in Bjoergvin seem like they have absolutely nothing at all to do with black metal, but somehow it still works.. its definately one of the most impressively original albums I've heard recently.
