Post subject: Is Anyone Else Being Logged Out?
PostPosted: Sat Sep 02, 2006 6:26 pm
For the last couple of days I've had to log in every time I come here, even though I check that little box off. Anyone else having this problem?

I saw this once on another board, people kept getting logged out, double- and triple-postings because the board times out. It's all things that point to a forums demise. It may be time to upgrade.

I assume he means the program the forums runs on.

Yeah, that's what I meant, but I deleted my cookies and I'm not being logged out anymore.

Still, at some point the forums will need to be upgraded.

Well, as technology moves along and this forum software becomes more and more outdated viruses and spyware are able to infiltrate the board and infect the members. And hackers can simply come in and just fuck shit up for the hell of it.

It's a lot easier to do on boards that incorporate banners and whatnot because it's easier to use a banner as a portal, so to speak, to infect people. It just happened at Boxing Insider a few months back. Every time you went there you got 5 viruses depending on whether or not a certain banner was running. It sucked ass and eventually after no one did anything to fix it the members of the board created Boxing Outsider.

I'm not saying this will happen here, the software is still secure and there are a billion messageboards out there so it's all a matter of chance, but still, at some point we'll have to upgrade. Nothing to worry about now. I was just getting worried when I kept having to log in each time. Programs can do that so they can force you to enter your password so they can record it.

Well I wasn't worried about an upgrade, I was just wondering what could change 'round here.

Plus I have had no problems.

Yeah, a lot of boards have this problem. It's usually nothing more than slow internet, however.
