not really, it was dead (of morbid) who invented the corpsepaint used in black metal. it evolved into to something similar to kiss' style, but the origins are quite different.

HAHAHA! I cannot believe this got a 100/100...
Even when this came out in '76 ( Iwas 7 or 8 yrs. old ) I was listening to better music than this... Aerosmith (Rocks, Get Your Wings), Zep, Sabbath... well the point is, even to a child Kiss, and this album in particular, was canned and plastic and childish, and not very musically adept, at that.

I may be mistaken, but didn't Peter Gabriel use face paint as well, in Genesis?
And Alice Cooper (HAILS!) was using the macabre face paint before Kiss, unless I am mistaken...

there is not too much difference there, that's what it became...
It was a problem to find a picture of dead in his old days, he was using the coprsepaint they use to paint people to corpses in movies, that is at least what the interviews said. I only found two pictures of him, and they do not live up to the descriptions i've read, which was quite unlike what kiss did. Here is an example of that type of corpsepaint:

Have you ever noticed when a band actually gets big all of a sudden they sold out or are posers. Dude Alice Cooper, KISS, Ziggy and the spiders. They all came out around the same time, and who cares who started the face painting and who fucking cares if you call it corpse paint, war paint or shit on your face. Any band in these days (be them good or bad) who paints there face (i.e. Dimmu, Cradal, Gorgorath, hell even King Diamond) RIPPED THE IDEA OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really don't care about that it adds to the appeal, however who fucking cares.

And hey jackass, your bands probably love KISS. Not that that matters either. They probably like ABBA too though.

Sometimes the shit people make a deal over is just rediculous.

you are not mistaking... I have even posted a pic of Peter Gabriel still wearing face paint on the tour of his fourth solo album... and he wore facepaint with Genesis from 1971...

alice cooper started it along with theatrics, he was here since 68. kiss just took the idea and gave it their own style.
