I tried pretty hard to like Trivium actually, I downloaded Ascendancy like three different times but never found anything that was above mediocre on it :(

I missed a lot here but nobody has made a compelling argument as to why Trivium are any good. All you guys defending Trivium are saying they are mediocre at best. So...am I missing something? Who cares if another person doesn't like a band you would deem as barely average?

We don't need compelling arguments against "Trivium sucks," first off. Second, musically Trivium are damn good, vocally is where they suffer. The screams are strained and shitty. The previous two albums were ruined by this.

But this thread isn't about whether Trivium is a good band or not, those that chose to talk shit made it into that sort of thread, typical of this forum's serious downfall. This thread is about one song, a song that I feel is damn good. The heavy vocals suit the band far better than the screams. I don't have high hopes this this new album will have abandonded the screaming altogether, that's the bread and butter of the biz right now, but this song is very good.

Is that compelling enough for you? Of course not! Why ask for compelling arguments when absolutely nothing will change your mind?

Well why do I need a compelling argument about why they suck if it isn't going to change your mind? Oh and by the way most everybody here has said more than they suck. People have given reasons they don't like them.

first off all you tell me Im one of "those people" people under a tone that indicates dispise. Then secondly you assume I meant only open-minded people liked Trivium which I never said.
so basically you passing judgment on false impressions and barely any substance. If there were any sacarstic tone in your post it completely got lost....

Blatant negativity does this board no good. Very few have really spoken more than playground opinions here. Like I said in the thread in the Hellheim forum, why can't some people not come off sounding like uneducated fools when discussing something they dislike?

I'll tell you why, because they don't give a fuck! Why even begin to talk about something you don't care about? Most people are here to chat and act out high school nonsense online. It's not about the music for most people here, even if they claim it is.

Bull. Shit. It is about the music, and if your tastes had any sort of quality filter on them you'd realise that, Ken. Music has it's mountains and valleys just like books and films. Just like the art it is. Shitty little bands like Trivium that come along out of nowhere and start selling bazillions are not art. There is nothing sublime about them, like there is about better metal. I hear this song, I think, wow, they've completely revealed their whorish nature. Money. Not art. Isn't that a good enough reason to dislike them? If a band has been around for a while and worked, and actually made art, as Blind Guardian have, then they deserve the financial rewards that I hope are coming to them. Trivium don't deserve anything except a quick trip to the bargain bin. Fuck 'em.

And Grandbizarre, I have listened to a few Trivium songs in my time. Studio and live recordings, and they sound absolutely shite live.

The first one is better. Much better. And buy albums foolish emoboy! Then you feel the need to like it cos you paid money for it.


I did like the start, until the metallica vocals came in. And the emo chorus was ok (and the vocals were fuzzed out, which is good!)

For trivium that was good. In reality, not horrible. Id give the album a download. Obviously like all catchy metalcore, it would get boring pretty wuick then never be listened to again.

But, er, Ken? If you cant hear the hetfield-like vocals at the start, you may be insane. :shock:

Look, bottom line - you came charging in and made a stupid (and oh-so-typical of 'modern' metal fans) statement about close-mindedness. Whether or not you meant to, it certainly looked like you implied that everyone in the thread saying the song sucked were only doing so because we had pre-conceived notions of the band's shittiness, so you can't really complain if people bite back. I for one gave a piece by piece explanation of why I didn't like the song. Is that enough for you?
