So? I didn't complain about that.

Are you insane? Choose your words wisely before you really step over the line, bud.

What the hell does a big tittied blonde have to do with this? You're losing your mind, dude! All you do is talk trash, you run from thread to thread talking shit. It's annoying as fuck, it's pointless. Why must you constantly do it?

I think you'd have to be pretty deaf to not think Trivium are sounding as close to Metallica as possible here.

No, I don't think they sound like Metallica, they sound like a metal band now. Exactly what I said they'd sound like without the screams. It doesn't sound like Metallica, though. I'd compare it more to Heathen than Metallica. The solo work is more like Slayer.

Of course, musically nothing has changed.

So, the second Trivium song i have heard. And its worse the the Carcass rip off. Its lazy and boring song writing. Is there even a hook in this song??? And i think it sounded a bit like metallica at the start but overall not really.

They always sounded like a metal band, and of course the music hasn't changed, its still just painfully generic thrash metal... but not Matt Heafy is imitating James Hetfield.

I'll agree with that.

Ken, you're out of your fucking mind. This song has Metallica written all over it.

He is absolutely attempting to sound like Jim Hetfield, anyone with ears should be able to hear this. Wow, a stupid stop-start bit before the fast part. Colour me surprised. The first solo is Slayer like, indeed. Oh look, the fruity emo vocals do make an appearanc after all. Overall not as annoying as their previous stuff but not impressive. The other solos are pretty cool, but this does not a good song make.

I hear no resemblance to James Hetfield aside from the fact that it's a heavy, yet clean vocal style. Dare I say you've never heard Metallica before?

Umm, you could, but you'd be wrong. :? C'mon, Ken, listen to his inflections, particularly at the end of the lines. I'm not saying he sounds like Hetfield, because he doesn't, but he's clearly attempting to utilise Hetfield's 80s vocal style here.

Even if they do somewhat sound like Metallica, who cares...
Bands like Symphony X sound like Metallica on many of their songs and I don't hear anyone complaining ?

Now about the song, it's not a bad song but it's not exceptional
I find the first half of the song mediocre but the last half where you guys say he sings "emo" or whatever I like it a lot more. The guitar work is better towards the end it sounds more cohesif. But overall it's not even close to my favorite songs of theirs "The Deceived".

You guys can shit all you want on "Trivium", I don't care about your close minded opinions, cause Trivium is much better than all the nu-metal and radio bands out there. I'm not saying they are the best but I enjoy listening to their music once in a while. And if because of Trivium people start to look into more "obscure" metal bands than it will have certainly served it's purpose.

I love guys like you. Clearly, the only_possible_way anyone could ever dislike Trivium is because they are CLOSE-MINDED.

Or, to put it another way "why don't you like the same music as meeeee?"

I consider myself to be a pretty 'open minded' guy musically (check out my last fm if you have to) but this song was just poor. Simple as.

Well, let's not pretend that Hetfield's vocal style was anything original to the metal field.

Just to clarify, you do realise that's the point I was making, ja?

i'm not saying the song here is great, because it's medicore, i'm talking about the people who are completly tossing Trivium aside as not being Metal, and having preconcieved opinions even before listening to anything by them.

Yes I may have been harsh with my "close-minded phrase" but in no way did it ever ment I was the only one open minded person on this board. It was just poor phrasing from my part. It was mainly directed to those who are close-minded. Sorry if anyone that has nothing to do with this got offended. I'm just fed up of all those negative comments about a band most of the people on these boards only heard 1 or 2 songs at most and not even the good ones may I add. I can understand some one disliking this band for many reasons but then again lots of posters don't give reasons and go directly to the offense because it's cool to bash Trivium on these boards.

ok i'll stop here with my ranting.
no harm intended, just a wake-up call.
