Manowar is a great band, one of my favorites along with Iron Maiden, Saxon, Motorhead, Black Sabbath (with Dio) or Raven....

Judas Priest are the metalgods... period.

Sad wings of destiny a classic ??

For Christ's sake put "screaming for vengeance" or "Painkiller" as a classic but not this one !

OK, there are some killer songs, but the versions here are so poor in comparison of the live ones in "Unleashed in the east".

Enuff said.

i think Sad Wings is way better than Screaming for Vengeance, at least it doesn't contain fillers like Pain and Pleasure ; and a song like You've got another thing coming is very overrated

PS : sinon ça va ?

BOC, Thin Lizzy & Rush are great bands... i'm less fond of UFO & know too little of Rage to tell you what i think...

Queen & Iron Maiden are godly bands too (not all their stuff...)

seing your tastes you should try King's X "Gretchen goes to Nebraska"... this album kicks ass !

While Screaming For Vengeance and Painkiller are definitely among Priest's best (Painkiller is my favourite Priest album), this one deserves to be a classic just as much as any of them. It is to me the first great heavy metal album and really does kick ass all the way through. True, the production is pretty bad, but it does not take away from the songwriting and the songs still sound ass kicking. In conclusion, this album rules.

As for Manowar... The problem with them is that each album is so inconsistent. They always have some amazing ass songs and some hideously cheesy, boring ones. Still a great band, though.

imo, every Priest album as a few fillers... but great metal songs too... the best one is Screaming for Vengeance but SWOG is a true classic though not as influencial as some might think...

i really don't agree with you about the production on SadWings. This album sounds very well , very clear and natural. it's better than screaming for vengeance's sound (too 80's sounding))

All music is heavily influenced. No band that I know of has randomly pulled a genre out of their ass.
