If you took the girl and the little monster dude with the little red ball stuff out, and made it less colorful, it would be a cool black metal cover. imo.

but as it looks right now, id go with power/prog, but not "happy" more of a darker side to the power metal style.

I voted Power but I think it could fit some thrash bands pretty well.

Very nice Chris. I would say it could work with a classic heavy metal band as well as guitar driven power metal, not so much with the flowerly stuff. With some adjustments it could also be made to work with Death Metal or Black though.

No real complaints here but I think the beast she's riding should have huge, sharp teeth and maybe the rider should be carrying the sword in her other hand, raised up high, rather than seathed behind her.

Excellent work Chris; in my opinion, it would fit a dark Power Metal band.

Indeed, very nice work Chris. Would work on a power metal album only, or some cheesy gothic/dark metal band. I would be interested in seeing some of your more traditional works, you know, not computer generated stuff. Some pencil/ink/paint work, or do you do stuff like that?

Thanks for the comments everyone. As for my traditional stuff, its been years I haven't done anything with pencils, and back then the only thing I was drawing was manga/anime. And to this date, except one Vision Divine album that looked a bit anime, I didn't see a single anime cover on a metal cd. I wish there would be though (I would most certainly do some !)... what about you ?

Thanks
Chris

it would fit best a dark power metal band indeed... though it could work for classic HM, prog metal or death/thrash depending on the lyrical content of the albums, of course...

and that's indeed a nice work you're showing us here... maybe you could see if Yngwie's looking for a cover artists since his last two albums have such shitty artwork ! :D

Puts me in mind of the Rhapsody EP Rain of a Thousand Flames, as well as Luca Turilli's second solo album.

Dance of Death is better...

I dunno, I dont find anything captivating about this picture. It looks really computer generated. I need trippy shit to impress me.

Good one. Nothing grounbreaking, but it's still good. I just prefer pencil/ink/paint works like Skartasis.

And how can you compare this one to Dance of Death's cover art???? If you'd remove the girl and the beast and add Eddy you would get a far better cover for DoD, imo.

nice stuff Chris (you haven't been around for a while), I'd say it's for a power metal band, but not the Freedom Call kind obviously ;)

It does have a certain Rhapsody - Holy Thunderforce feel to it. Apocalyptic with alot of motion, and ofcourse... dragons. :)

Hey Chris, I believe that this type of artwork (computer generated) isn't fitting for some genres, Black Metal for example.

Most of the time Black Metal covers are: Pencil drawn (or similar) art or b ) Dark pictures of beautifull and dark landscapes, preferably forests and similar stuff. This is not a rule, but it is the most fitting art for it. So if you wish to focus on other Metal genres you're going to have to start using different techniques. Or at least that's what I think.

Anyway, your computer art is very good, so keep up the awesome work.

Daniel.

Easy, I can compare this to DoD because they both are heavily computer generated....except DoD has a point..

By "comparing" I meant that it's obvious that this one is much better... but that's only my opinion.

I've seen one anime metal cover. I think the band was called Lord Gore. It wasn't my thing, but I do know the cover was this anime gore cover. And it fit the music oh so well.

Dance Of Death's cover is horrible. Unbelievably amateur-looking for a band like Iron Maiden. Bring back Derek Riggs.

The worst part is, apparently the artist presented the cover as a rough draft, intending to brush up a few parts (like that frickin' wolf  ) only to be told by the band to leave it as it is.
