Hostel had probably the single worst opening 20 minutes or so I've ever seen in my life. After that, it suddenly got much, much better. Definitely better than Cabin Fever.

Yeah. They damn near lost me in that first half. I was very close to walking out until the killing started. Teenagers in 80's horror films had better parties.

Hostel was fucking pathetic.

Painkiller is a pathetic fucking album........even now.

I like torture films, shoot me.

OMG!!! OMG!!! He said Painkiller sucks I'm, gonna go cry now.

Dude, grow the fuck up. You get on here and brag about how you're so old and all then act like a 12 year old. I was commenting on my dislike for a movie. If you disagree with my opinion of the movie fine, it's ok with me, but don't try (extremely feebly I might add) to insult me. Oh, and since you brought it up, Painkiller is an awesome album.

It wasn't all that bad. I'm probably a pussy for saying so, but I actually liked it.

Looking back, I probably did overrate it a bit, though. If I were to go back, I'd probably give it a 7 or a 6.5.

It's partly that, and partly that they won't take a risk on a truly original idea. Crappy remakes, sequels, prequels and the like are guaranteed to make money, because idiots will go on name value alone. When the fucking Dukes of Hazzard draws more money that a great movie like the Life Aquatic you see the sad state of the movie going audiences.

American Psycho, I still don't get why people think this is a good movie? Is ok, but pales next to the book, just no life, is plastic to me

It has killing, chasing a hooker down the halls with a chainsaw, gross egotism, and Phil Collins. What's not to like?

Yeah but not enough, when I want killing I want it good like Red to Kill or some shit like that. It looks too chopped up but he is funny doing the monologues on music before he kills.

Pranks (aka The Dorm that Dripped Blood)

80s Slasher from the US that's low on script, decent effects and production values, but high on grainy atmosphere with a good soundtrack and a nice downbeat ending.

I wtahc versus the other day. This guy on IMDB sums it up perfectly for me

Quote:
Some may forgive this movie for no plot, but it's thin on pretty much everything else as well.

The plot? Well, some prisoner with an attitude escapes... in the FOREST OF RESURRECTION. Things that die come back to life here. Sound interesting? Well, it gets worse. Actually, the plot is pretty much your standard horrible anime script. Some hero fights mystical stuff, for some reasons we don't really know.

As if the plot wasn't testing your patience, the poorly conceived and performed characters drive it further into the ground. The "hero" is more a caricature of a tough guy than the real thing to even take seriously. I can't even take the villain seriously as he seems as if he's bored while trying to recite some contrived lines.

Action sequences are pretty dull, as 'action' is construed as a mass of guns being fired or some unimaginative martial arts choreography. The director probably knew this which is why most martial arts scenes were extremely up close- so you can't see how horrible the fights actually are.

I watched the unrated director's cut, the unrated probably from the unnecessary overuse of gore. Whether it was to be a joking prop, so much was shown it got old.

This movie is awful. Anyone who rates this movie over a 5 probably shouldn't be recommending movies to others. The direction and execution of this movie gives me the impression that this movie would be material for crusty American Japanophiles. Well, here's your movie.

Complete wank.

People either love or hate this movie, I don't like it much either. The ending is fucking great, but the rest of the movie just so-so and the Gangster shit it OTT for me. That guy on IMDB sounds like an idiot too, it isn't that bad and there are only Japan lovers in the US? Moron.

You want to see a fucking GREAT couple of Japanese movies check out Hellavator and Marebito.
