I strongly diagree with this review, particularly with the folloing parts.

Quote:
Check out "Gypsy". This track is all over the place. The scream at the beginning is something you can mistake for another vocalist all together; very uncharacteristic of Dio. Also, we have a drum solo and this is only the third song!

The third song on the disc. The tracklisting from the gig was chopped up so they could fit all of Holy Diver on the one disc. In reality they played Tarot Woman, followed by Sign of the Southern Cross/One Night in the City before going into holy Diver.

Quote:
"Shame On The Night" clocks in at almost seventeen minutes, with a majority of it being dedicated to some drawn out guitar solos and keyboard arrangements. This reminds me of how some of old Rainbow songs got dragged out in the live setting as well.

"Dragged out" is hardly the phrase I would use. 17 minutes - that's the song itself, split in two with a guitar solo in the middle and a reprise of the Holy Diver chorus at the end with a couple of minutes of crowd noise to round off the disc.

Quote:
The keyboard intro to "Gates of Babylon" sounds like it's being played on a cheap Casio keyboard! The string arrangements from the original are not even re-created accurately.

Now this is being unfair to Scott Warren - do you really expect him to recreate an entire string section by himself while playing the original keyboard parts at the same time?

I think Dio didn't do that bad. This is not probably the greatest Live Album Ever, but this review prints a little distorted picture.

I consider myself a huge Dio fan. When "Master of the Moon" came out, many people slagged it because they didn't like it as much as "Killing The Dragon" or any other albums before it. I felt it was still a decent effort.

When it comes to "Holy Diver Live", you can compare most of the songs that he as already done live on albums like "Evil or Divine", "Intermission", "Inferno: Last In Live", etc and those versions sound alot better. I give him credit where credit is due. It is what it is though.......the idea is better than the end result. :(

Just heard this; definitely better than the reviewer gives it credit for. Its not perfect, and there are better versions out there of some of these songs live, but its still very damn good.

Sorry, but it's hard to listen to this album tuned flat and in a different key all together when I'm so used to listening to the studio versions. Not even the other live versions are tuned like the ones on here.

Yes there are some flaws and yes Dio doesnt sound like he usualy does live, but hay thats why I like this version it aint perfect, there are mistakes and thats what makes it a stunning album, if we wanted perfect we would be buying a studio album
