Why " :roll: " ?

And the grass seems to be growing slower and slower the more you watch, your vision starts becoming blurry and your eyelids are getting heavier (more than one can say about the music).

No, this didn't work out plain and simple. And keep in mind that I like his first solo offering aswell as parts of his second album. If the songs had been based on some interesting melodies and if they included some twists and suprises, or atleast a tempochange or two it would have redeemed this album somewhat, but no.

The worst thing any kind of music can do is leave you apathetic. Not even St. Anger does that.

I'm putting on Place Vendome instead.

I actually thought it was er, not horrible.

If Kiske had just thrown in a couple of uptempo numbers, even if they were just acoustic pop, I'd probably give it a 60 based on his vocals alone. But yeah, a slow album without much variation is just not worth anyone's time.

This deserves to be slagged, by each and every point of view.

It's quite clear to me that Kiske is a awesome vocalist, but a god awful songwriter. I actually listened to the clips posted in the rock forum some time ago - fuck, what a vacuum of boredom :x

Yeah, I said it in the other thread, the artwork is really cool.

I liked Kiske in Chameleon and some of PBGA so I have no problem him singing like that the problem I have is when he makes crap like this.

If you aren't going back into metal then so be it but please do not slap us in the face with music like this.This ruins his rep and Kiske is one of the finest singers out there but on this album he isn't.

The thing I don't like is when people don't give something a chance just like people often don't give a chance to metal and think its just idiots screaming.

You have to be open minded with music and give it a chance. If you have a prejudice you will percieve it like you want to percieve it...you will hear metal as loud crap if you don't give it a chance.

Kiske is just into something new now and I listen to pretty much all type of music and I think this album is great. You're all expecting kiske to produce the stuff you're used to hear from him but ... he's somewhere else now! Just because u don't understand it don't fight it!

These are the 2 most idiotic comments people make when discussing music. It has nothing to do with understanding and everyone is entitled to their opinion so you shut the fuck up Mikki.

Let's put it this way, this is not a good album simply because it's not a good album. Mike would not give it a bad review just because it's not a metal album, he's not like that. I'm not like that. I think this album is terrible on the merit of the music.

Saying someone doesn't "understand" the music is like me saying you don't understand the greatness that is brussell sprouts! Stupid.

You're jumping to conclusions. Just because "metalheads" don't like this particular album, it doesn't mean that we didn't give it a chance, expecting him to produce something else, or don't understand.

As I've stated in the forums before and in previous reviews, my basic request as far as music goes is "GIVE ME SOMETHING GOOD." If that's in the form of a Journey ballad, a depressing Sentenced song, a brutal Dark Tranquility track, or a happy and speedy Dragonforce track, then so be it.

As for Kiske, I just want something good. I know he's removed himself from metal, and that's fine. He's proven that he can sing quality non-metal tunes. However, the songs on this album are lifeless, devoid of passion and emotion, and utterly boring. Even his vocals have the "going through the motions" sound to them throughout most of the album. In other words, it's a complete failure to deliver something good.

With that said, I stand firmly behind what I said in the review. The speed of the songs and their "metalness" or "non-metalness" is not an issue at all. This is just a bad album, and yes, I did give it a chance.
