Just stumbled upon this while surfing through Frontiers Records web site.
Had no idea, but Michael Kiske is releasing his third solo album

Following a great acclaim from the critics and fans alike, Kiske started to gather again some material to give birth to his long awaited third solo album. Surrounded by a positive and totally free environment, made of great friends and musicians (Karsten Nagel – an old schoolmate – on drums and Sandro Giampietro and Fontaine Burnett on guitars and bass respectively), Kiske gained again strong confidence with his music and expressive style. The resulting album: “Kiske” is a very personal statement - from the beginning to the end. “It's a healthy-careless and musically free album”, says Michael who wanted to tirelessly explore his more melodic and straightforward roots. “I am very proud of this record because it is a true statement from myself”, declares the German singer, “and I could easily build up new things from it, but also can let it stand there as an artistic closing-comment from myself, because I am sure I will still like this album in 10 years time!”.

Anyone knew this was coming out? Has anyone heard any samples?

"Following a great acclaim from the critics and fans alike..."

Hahaha, sure.

Yes, I recall it being discussed before and I recall the samples sounding like absolute aural feces. But hey, he said in an interview for an Italian Metal portal that he considered the album with Suckared "a very good recording", so what else could we expect?

Let's put it into perspective, I said this to Mike the other day, Michael Bolton used to play in a rock band and they were actually very good. He then went solo, the rock stuff stuck for his first few solo albums, but around 1987 he abandonded it completely for that pop shite he's best known for. Sure, it's not something I like, but he did it right. He walked away from the rock stuff and never looked back.

Kiske, however, followed a similar path. He started in metal, then went solo with pop shite. The difference is that Kiske has, on one hand, consistently denounced metal over the years and on the other hand he has also consistently performed guest vocals on countless metal albums! He denounces metal, yet sings for all the metal bands ($$$$) and then he peddles his pop solo shit to those fans that love him for his contributions to metal. It's a joke. He needs to walk away. I'm not going to say his solo stuff is really bad, I don't like it, but he's pushing it onto the wrong crowd. He's doing this knowing they'll be more forgiving simply because of his metal roots. The man is a legend in the metal world, but he needs to force his pop nonsense onto someone else. Walk away.

What he needs to do is go back into metal. His voice isn't good for pop shit however he did a good job with Helloween's Chamelon album but overall his voice needs to go back into metal that's all there is to it but yeah I know a pipe dream.

Yep. He's "far beyond metal" at this point, he just needs to disappear from the metal world. I do like his new album cover.

I'll be reviewing the new Kiske solo album this week, or the week after at the very latest (depending upon my ability to remain awake while listening). Expect one of our skeletons to be atatched to the review, but as a hint, it's not the same one that Aleksie used for his review this week.

Geoff Tate did the same thing, made shit albums with 'ryche after Empire, made a horrid piece of garbage solo album, pretended he was never Metal then made a money grabbing attempt with some tripe called OMC 2 to cash in on when they were still Metal. Kiske should have paid attention to the Tate chronichels some.
