No posting of it here. And what Messhugga riff? Sounds like a Tool riff to me, in fact, it sounds like a Tool riff we've heard from another Tool song.

That would work. The MP3 I have is ripped at a high rate so it's like 16MB! Pffft! I'm not uploading that. Hahaha. I'm going to bed.

Oops, I meant breakdown... the starting riff from the song is really similar to Schism's riff

Yeah, that's the one, but this time it's not bass only.

The Postman Syndrome, Zero Hour, Katatonia, Oceansize... those are basically the only bands with more than a remote resemblance to Tool that I've heard.

None of those bands come close, though. Let's go with the obvious: A Perfect Circle.

10 Years sound a lot like A Perfect Circle, too. But, the only band I've ever listened to —that I can think of off the top of my head, anyway—that seriously reminds me of Tool is Dead Soul Tribe, and I think that's fairly accurate.

i find more in common between Tool and like Zero Hour, later Neurosis, Indukti, The Postman Syndrome, and Opeth's Still Life than I do with A Perfect Circle or Dead Soul Tribe just because they have the same style of genius to them while APC + DST don't have that...

I think musically A Perfect Circle and Dead Soul Tribe come closest. A Perfect Circle are far more streamlined, but I think Dead Soul Tribe definitely sound a lot like them.

Well to get back to the original topic, I got hold of the new single as well. That Meshuggah-like break was a nice surprise, and the last minute was a good conclusion. Sure some parts of the song remind me of Schism but it is still a good track. It has been a long 4 and 1/2 year wait but the hardest part will be these next couple of weeks.

yeah, A Perfect Circle sound similar to Tool because of the personal touches from the band members they share. stuff like Indukti and all this agit-atmospheric rock failed doom bands play comes closer to the actual style of music.

edit: and er, the albums "Discipline" and "THRAK" by King Crimson. kinda dumb of me not to mention those. :P :P

it actually wasn't that long of a wait for me because Lateralus was basically the first album I ever liked ^____^

i like the song, if its the worst on the album then i willb e amazed, if it is average then the album will be great, if is the best i'll be slightly disapointed.

Somebody say lyrics????????????????????????
Tool - Vicarious

I own the TV, cause tragedy thrills me
Whatever flavor, it happens to be like
Killed by the husband
Drowned by the ocean
Shot by his own son
She used a poison, in his tea
And kissed him goodbye
That's my kind of story
It's never fun till someone dies

Don't look at me like, I am a monster
Frown out your one face, but with the other
Stare like a junkie, into the TV
Stare like a zombie
While the mother, holds her child
Watches him die
Hands to the sky crying
Why oh why?

Cause I need to watch things die, from a distance
Vi - carious - ly - I live, While the whole world dies
You all need it too, don't lie

Why can't we just admit it?
Why can't we just admit it?

We won't give pause until, the blood is flowing
Neither the brave nor bold
The Writers, their stories sold
We won't give pause until, the blood is flowing

I need to watch things die, from a good safe distance
Vi - carious - ly - I live, While the whole world dies
You all feel the same so, why can't we just admit it?

Blood like rain falling down
Drum on grave and ground

Part - vamp - ire
part - war - rior
Car - ni - vore and war - rior
Stare - at - the - trans - mit - ter
sing - to - the - death - rat - tle

La-la-la-la-la-la-la-Lie
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-Lie
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-Lie
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-Lie

Credulous at best, your desire to believe in
Angels in the hearts of men
Pull your head on out-Your head believes in, give a listen
Shouldn't have to say it all again
The universe is hostile, so impersonal
Devour to survive, so it is
So it's always been

We all feed on tragedy
It's like blood to a vampire

Vi - carious - ly - I live, while the whole world dies
Much better you than I
