I have the feeling the general feeling on this board towards them is negative. Personally I love them, not only for their really, really good music (dissonance, yum, complexity, yum, energy, yum), but also for the sort of subgenre they created with Calculating Infinity (Especially Psyopus and Ion Dissonance, and especially not Into The Moat).

Also, Irony is a Dead Scene is probably my favourite Mike Patton work too....

your thoughts on them?

I need to try them again, but Miss Machine was one of only a few albums I have actually thrown away.

Like Mr. Bungle I feel they have a lot of great moments, but very few great songs.

A miss, I'm afraid, I'm tired of their guitar tone and the music is only "heavy complex" instead of truly impressive. I don't even really listen to the patton stuff any more either.

I liked them half a year ago though.

I've only heard them live so I can't really judge them. They seem like a pretty typical metalcore band though.

These guys are the miss of the decade...

Yeah, it's more that it's just too complex for its own good, and generally poorly written and completely unrewarding in every aspect.

How much have you heard?

Even taking that as if it weren't irrational fanboy hyperbole, it doesn't really change anything. They still can't write a decent or interesting piece of music.
