Went with the Nile record. I bought it from Half.com a few days ago and will post a brief review for it when it comes in and I've listened to it.

Plan on buying As The Palaces Burn and Individual Thought Patterns (by Death) next month.

The first two Offsprings are thoroughly punk, and to a very high standard as well. Smash onwards is really predominantly grungey alt rock. A thoroughly overrated album. Ixnay is the same genre, but much much better. After that it's a slow and steady decline towards the excrement that was "Hit That", which is just pop in the same way that Busted are. Argh!

I seriously think that... all metal's about is revival of its own grandeur... a clear sign of a dead genre... that doesn't mean there a no good new albums etc... just that there's nothing NEW anymore... :(

Bollocks! Go listen to Alkaline Trio, to Propagandhi, to Anti-Flag. All punk bands that take the base and run with it in different and interesting ways. Like metal, the best bands are those that twist it in new and interesting ways...

A friend of mine went to see them in concert the other week, they were touring Australia. I was at his house the other day, there were a few of us playing poker and he put on Alkaline Trio....

....to me it sounded just like Good Charlotte and all the other bands like that which all sound the same....

Cant those bands sing any other way except the same way they all do? It's like the same vocalists for all those bands

But yet, my ears arent really tuned to that type of music, found it rather boring....plus i had the nuts in poker and wasnt really listening that intently

They're a lot better than GC and the other shit. Two of them are Satanists, an' all.

I'm not saying they're the best thing ever, just that they're worthy of a listen or two.
