OK, I've heard tracks from the new one and older releases, and so far liked everything. Which album's the best one to start with?

The Fourth Legacy or Karma are good introductory points.

Or if you prefer the slower stuff, Epica or the Black Halo.

The first three albums are a bit different.

http://www.myspace.com/kamelot - the one you've heard, 2 from Karma and one from TFL.

My favourite song so far by them ("The Shadow Of Uther") is from The Fourth Legacy, I think. I'll probably go for that.

Edit: Yeah, thanks for the MySpace, saw it already. :)

Ah, I see you've already been on their myspace.

Yeah, that song is excellent, one of their best.

NP: Kamelot ~ The Shadow Of Uther

Try and find "Centre of the Universe" somewhere - easily one of the best modern power metal songs

Np that here too! Suprising how you can change your mind, I didn't like these guys the first time I tried 'em (loooooooooong time ago).

BTW, I see what you meant about Hatebreeder. Pretty damn good. PM is teh kewl (some of it, anyway).

What did I say again? Something about repeated plays?

(Zad, you've helped hijack you're own thread :o )

I can't help it! It's in my blood!

Incidently, went trawling and found your Demoniac suggestion, I'm looking them up now. Maybe I should rename this thread Zad's "PM isn't crap after all" thread...

Edit: Demoniac as in, Dragonforce's old band?

Sam (DragonForce guitarist) plays on all three Demoniac albums and Herman (other DragonForce guitarist) plays on the final one. Thire first is BM, the second sort of power/black/punk, the third is basically DragonForce with BM vocals - and such brilliant lyrics as Hitler Metal! Seig Heil!.

Sounds cool...pity none of the vids work on their old site. I need to try Dragonforce again, songs other than "Fire & The Flames"...

Edit: Just watching the video for The Haunting with Her out of Epica (Tarja gone ginger, I swear), and I like it. Especially how serious the goateed guy looks... :D

Go from The Fourth Legacy and move up.Each album is different as the progressed from one album to the other. So it would go like

The Fourth Legacy
Karma
Epica
The Black Halo

Or you can even start out with Siege Perilous and go from there but the production of that album isn't all that great but still a decent album nonetheless.

To me they basically got better with each album, so check out Epica or The Black Halo =)

I'd go for the Black Halo, Epica or Karma

The others are just too inconsistent. Full of a few good tracks and many fillers

Black Halo is the best album they've done IMO. It ranked #2 on my best of 2005 list. It's more mid-tempo though, which suits me just fine. If you are into the hyperdrive tempo of old Helloween and Rhapsody, I'd suggest looking at Karma or Epica first.

Ultimately, it depends on which is cheapest. :)

I've liked everything I've heard from them so far, which is a good sign...

Just FYI, Zad, the MySpace page has been updated - 4 songs from The Black Halo can now be heard.

Once Cold Winter's Night is fucking awesome, i don't normally buy live concert dvd's but this one was a sure winner in my book, the production, the performance, the features, just tons of stuff if you a big fan of the band like myself, ohh and they rock the shit out of Oslo that night, just hoping these guys keep up the great streak of excellent albums, is hard but everytime one expects them to dissapoint, they somehow manage to exceed expectations. By far my favorite metal band. :dio:

Excellent review. I bought the DVD right after Christmas....you're right...it kicks ass. That was a fantastic show. I saw them in Virginia last Summer, they were just incredible. :dio:
