I was thinking of reviewing Reflective Depths Imbibe or something by Windham Hell but it'll be a hard one to write..

np: Russian Circles - demo

post-rock? atmospheric post-fooling around? it's quite good, each of the four songs reminds me of a different already established band.

It's on number 24 of my top 50, that means it's pretty good...
It's just heavier postrock.

ah.. the guy I downloaded it from has it tagged as Sludge Metal, haha.

yeah, I prefer post-rock where you can hear the bass.. track three still has that ideosyncratic thing where the guitars are picking out chords which have zero relevance to what the bass is doing, but other than that I really enjoy this.

anyone familiar with these guys? used to be a doom metal band but evolved into a sort of indie-electropop thing. their singer sounds like the guy out of New Model Army, sort of.

After one half of one listen, I can safely say that this album kicks ass.

Masada String Trio - Film Works Vol. XI: Hidden Lives

I actually think I like this better than their performance for Zorn's 50th birthday, it's soo god damn beautiful!!

Yeah, I'm planning on getting that one too. My only problem is that they don't sell there albums in the US, so I have to get them from amazon UK, which is pretty expensive for us dollar folk.

Mushroomhead -- Destroy The World Around Me

It's not as bad as everyone says it is. I really enjoy it, in fact.

Yes, you may call me a "poseur" if you want now.

something to do with being the only popular icelandic artists? :D

np: Robert Fripp String Quintet - The Bridge Between

actually a lot more interesting than a lot of official King Crimson material.. but it's a little too hospitable and melodic to really match up.

NP
Joe Satriani "Super Colossal"
