Why do Arch Enemy hire such shitty vocalists?

Michael Ammott and Angela write them, it varies from song to song. I'm not sure if Angela had as much input on Wages since it was her first appearance.

But I do think there was a shift in lyric writing between Wages and Anthems to more of an overt "oooooh our society is evil" standpoint.

Actually this is true. I was playing Arch Enemy for a friend of mine a while back and they didn't seem too impressed. Then I said something along the lines of "I still can't believe that's a chick singing." All of a sudden they couldn't get enough of the band. Now I hate Arch Enemy and my buddy loves them. Strange.

Because Michael Amott is a douche who got famous by riding the coattails of Carcass' last days. :wink:

I like the stuff with Johan, he always sounded like he had some phlegm in his throat that just wouldn't come out. I kind of dug Wages of Sin, it had the same vibe as the old stuff at least.

Anthems and Doomsday on the other hand just scream "Teenager Friendly" and those goddamn vocal effects have got to go.

Liiva was much better than Gossow. Of course Arch Enemy with Liiva was a much better and more interesting band than in the Gossow era.
