good for Children, I found it quite average

Come on, it was great! Admit you jumped when the snake came out of the cage at them.

well, having read the book I can assure you I did not... plus, Carrey's interpretation was far too comical...

Bah, that's cheating. And this was one of the few performances I liked Carrey in, normally he's an annoying twat...

he was awesome in Man on the Moon, Trueman Show & Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind... and even his comedies are better than they used to be... I'm sure he'll get an oscar soon ! 8)

ESOTSM was good, but more because of Kate Winslet than him. And seeing as how they give them to bloody anyone these days (Reese Bloody Witherspoon?!) I can't see why not.

Even the Truman Show couldn't avoid the obligatory "jumps up and down and makes funny faces" bit.

Eternal Sunshine did avoid all these... a very unusual Carrey...

Has anyone seen "When A Stranger Calls"? Its in cinemas now although it hasnt started in Australia yet.
It's one of those thriller, suspence, horror type movies. The trailor looks good, not original, but still peaked my interest

It bordered between the silly and the just plain nasty (not scary, just unpleasent for the sake of it). I wasn't sure about the right wing vigilante message either - triumphant music blaring as the perviously snivelling leftie wakes up to the joys of smashing people in the head with pointy things? :?

That was one of the few things I found out of place, triumphant music didn't seem to fit.

I saw the trailer last night - I think it looks utterly atrocious (but then, I'm a fussy bastard when it comes to films). Seriously, giving away the twist in the trailer? Dear me.

Syriana. I was thoroughly confused by much of it, but figured it basically came down to: "Oil, eh?.... America, corporations and all that... wink wink... corruption... "

Wouldn't mind seeing it again, and probably paying more attention thus appreciating it more.

Ditto. That Hills Have Eyes remake looks only marginally better (I'm a sucker for radioactive freaks).

See my above post. A bleeding heart like you would either walk out in disgust or re-evaluate his entire life.

Heh. If I watch it, it'll be for the freaks.

The House on Haunted Hill last night. It was OK, prolly a 6/10. Some creepy moments ruined by genuine shite every now and again, plus the generic all action ending of Hollywood horror.

Yes, but I think it does in the original though, so I can forgive them their weakness. (although shit, I can't remember for sure...)

As long as the baby lives, I'll happily stand and watch the rest being put through a meat-grinder. My weakness...

Well it's certainly a brutal film. I get the feeling a lot of the people went along to see another "The Ring". The fact that so many walked out indicates that they weren't quite prepared for Aja's "in your face" visual style. Still looks way too much like the hideous TCM03 though.

Apparently the only redeeming part of that was Ms. Biel's chest...

Funny, I find brutal, bloody stuff easier to watch than creepy stuff. The Ring made me jump, which suprised me.
