Post subject: New Rage Kicks Ass!

I've had this album for about a week now and can't stop listening to it. At first I was a bit dissapointed in some of the songs but the album has definately grown on me. The first nine songs is a concept song and is interspersed with symphonic interludes that totally rules. Viktor Smolski is smoking as usual and the songs are extremely catchy, especially Innocent and No Regrets. It may not be better in total than Soundchaser but it still is a great album.

"No Regret" is one of the best songs I've heard in a long, long time. It's definitely a great album! The five instrumentals are going to probably piss people off, but I don't mind them.

Yeah its decent. If I could get past the vocals Rage could be one of my favorite bands.

Give it time, he's not the greatest vocalist and I found him hard to get used to, as well, but it suits the music and he's really a strong vocalist, just raw.

About the vocals I have no complains. Peavy is one of the best heavy metal vocalist.
My opinion on this album is a totally different matter. I'll wait some more before giving my final judgement. I still wonder what prevents me from liking this. Innocent is so good...

I agree that Innocent is by far the best song on the album. The other songs get better with time . For me there are only three duds namely No Fear and maybe the last two tracks.

I agree Eyesore, I can't get 'No Regrets' out of my head. It's funny but it seems that Rage adopted a different approach up to 'Beauty' and then reverted back to their old style. It's a shame the whole album isn't like the first half.

Just finished my first listen to the promo, and unfortunately I can't say I'm thrilled. First listen is too soon to judge, but the first impression isn't very good. Bummer.

It just sounds so...generic?!

Soundchaser blew my mind away. I've listened to it so many times, I don't need the cd anymore, I just play it in my head.

It's not like Soundchaser, it's like XIII. Give it time. Rage are a band that has never followed the same path from album to album. It's a great album, but it's not their best.

Nice name, by the way.

Yes, of course, one listen is never enough. More often than not, it does not represent the final conclution. It's just Soundchaser was an instant hit for me...so I hoped it would repeat itself.

I didn't like Unity at first, after XIII and Ghosts I just wasn't ready for the shift in style, but it's a phenomenal album!

You got me. I've been using it for 10 years or so, and very few people actually recognized it. And now 2 in a matter of hours. Good forum I guess :)

I actually never got to like XIII. That's why I hoped they would continue Soundchaser style. I'm picky.

Awe, so sad for you. It's a great album. :D It was actually my first Rage album, I bought it in Korea and loved it. Luckily Korea had some pretty bad ass metal record stores and I was able to pretty much pick up every other album that came before XIII! I miss that shit, plus the prices were good, too.

I remember being in a bar called Cowboys once (names do not matter, there were two children's clothing stores over there and one was called Lusty and the other called Baby Hunt, hahahaha), anyway...so, I'm in the bar and fucking "Future World" by Helloween comes on!! Unreal.

Their image is as gay bad as their music. And yes, I listened open-mindedly. Not my cup of tea, Firewind are much better...

I find it hard to believe you listened when you say Firewind are much better when Firewind sound nothing like them.

In terms of power metal as basics, nothing deeper. I know they have different styles, wasn't comparing the two.
