And Mother of Black Metal is Cradle of Filth/Dimmu Borgir, right?

What the fuck are you talking about? **Laughs**

Um...he was being sarcastic. I, like you, am a fan of MDB, but they aren't the mother of all doom metal. They didn't start it, and there are several subgenres like funeral or stoner or drone that have very little to do with My Dying Bride's sound.

Well someone tell me another band, better than MDB; that does it better than MDB, Besides Candlemass. Mourning Beloveth is one that I love too.

As much as I like them, Candlemass is... just... better. :P

EDIT: And if My Dying Bride is the "Mother of all Doom Metal", then Candlemass, Thergothon, so on and so forth are the mothers of the mothers of the mothers of the mother of all Doom Metal.

The Mother of All Doom Metal must be really fat and have no personality because she's slooooooooooooooooow and boring.

You can go: In dephths of what I call: fuckin' HELL!
And if you don't I'll fuckin' push dude!

Dago, just start with Candlemass, My Dying Bride, Mourning Beloveth, (Old) Katatonia, Forest of Shadows, November's Doom and first Opeth album which I think you've heard already.
Other bands I have forgotten maybe, others will tell.

...And by saying MDB is Mother of All Doom, is was just giving him a direction, he could've (can) discover more bands and theories himself too.

so's doom-death, which is what My Dying Bride is. but if you want the mother of doom-death, then follow afeigel's advice and check out Winter.. more recent awesome doom-death includes Morgion and Mar de Grises.

and you know the brilliant Thergothon so check out Skepticism, another early funeral doom band. :D

Well then go with Shape of Despair, or Esoteric, or Monolithe.

Of course I'll never get why Winter gets so much credit, I think they kinda sucked. Anyhow Morgion's newest one was very good in a relaxing way.

Yes, Shape of Despair is truly: Despair in its purest form.

Never a big, on the other hand: never gave them a good chance either. I should though.

I have a similar feeling towards Thergothon. Winter and Thergothon get so much credit because they were one of the first of their respective genres. I do agree that their style has been improved upon by other groups, though.

Pioneers always get alot of credit, whether deserved or not (though I think it is deserved in Winter's case  ).

I like all those bands, especially Witchfinder General.. maybe Pentagram or Count Raven would be to your tastes?

there's a shortage of traditional doom bands.

np: Witch Mountain - Homeground Doom EP; stoner/trad doom that changes time and is obviously influence by teh Melvins.
