They're quality melodeath, nothing special, though. Just good.

They Will Return is their strongest album I'd say. It's the album with the most old-Sentenced influence and therefore the least Bodom worship.

I've seen a few people in DC++ have it, I'll probably download it today. I'm a big fan of Kalmah.

I listened it for a second time now and I really liked it. It's my first Kalmah album so I wasn't sure what to expect. Nice surprise and it didn't sound much like Bodom. I'm willing to give it 80.

I don't get why they always get compared to bodom. Kalmah was always better and now that cob sold out I'm sure it won't be an issue any more. :D

First post...amazing ++

I've got their latest album, The Black Waltz, and it's pretty good. Somewhat different to their other albums I think but it still sounds like them which is pretty awesome.

I too downloaded it and it was my first experiance with them. I was expecting some run of the mill melo-death album. Pleasently surprised I was because it is pretty good stuff. How does it stack up to older material?

Welcome to the forums Atra :)

I don't get that either. I only listened to their first one, Swamplord, and I didn't see any CoB there. Anyway, Kalmah pisses all over Bodom and their stupid lake.

I listened to this last night and it pwns. The vocals are more death metal like on this album. It's also quite epic sounding. Almost reminds me of Ensiferum and Wintersun.

It's ok. There's some pretty strong tracks but it's not as good as Swamplord, IMO.

Personaly my favourite album is They Will Return but yeah Swamplord is good too. I haven't listened to the Black Waltz enough to be able to compare it to their other albums. I've only listened once. I need more spare time.

I've only heard it once, but it was a pleasureable experience.

Listened to it yesterday. A good album, but I need to hear it more times. At first listen, I found it better than the old ones, perhaps more "epic", and with more feeling in the voice than in Swamplord and They Will Return (that were good albums, but I found them more standard, less interesting. Perhaps I have to give them another try).

I didn't find them never similar to cob. Kalmah is 3289323232342342320 times better that bodom will ever dream to be.
