I know it's a tough one... one one hand you have GAMMA RAY that never sucked but don't have so many classic albums (I think Power Plant kinda is but that would be all). on the other hand you have HELLOWEEN who did, imo, 4 classic albums (the first 3 and Dark Ride) but also a few awful ones (Pink Bubbles Go Ape & Chameleon).

discuss...

WOW! Two great Blackened death metal bands. Hmm…. hard decision.

EDIT - Honest mistake I'm sure, so in all seriousness, I'll vote for Helloween. They are more influential and I find their first three releases to be perfect. Gamma Ray kicks ass (and I'm hoping to see them in May) but they just don't stand up to the legacy of Helloween.

Is this a special one to see what the Lich Lords think of it? Otherwise, wrong forum, Papa.

But Helloween actually burnt a church down and urinated on a vicar! Surely that counts for something?

I've done the same thing, except I caught my mistake in time to delete the thread and move it in the correct forum.

yeah, helloween are pretty grim.

I can't move this thread, by the way. although I'd probably be more likely to add Vlad Tepes as a third option if I had the power :P

You seem to be correct.

Helloween just have more of an impact, although Gamma Ray is more consistent.

I listen to Helloween more. Therefore, Helloween.

Both excellent bands though.

Gamma Ray's first three albums are hardly models of consistency.

Helloween > Gamma Ray
More influential, more great songs, not as afraid to experiment and try new sounds. Gamma Ray will be remembered as good or great, Helloween as legendary.

I like Powerplant more than any other album from Helloween and every album from Land of The Free to the newest Majestic I like as much or more than any album from Helloween. Soo.. Gamma Ray > Helloween. I love Kai Hansens vocs. I like Kiske/Deris too, buuut.. Kai > Kiske/Deris.

Dont get me wrong though, I loves me some Helloween too.

Helloween, mainly for the wall and the two keepers. But was a tought one to decide, cause I prefer Gamma Ray that Helloween with Deris... And Chameleon makes the decision more difficult.

Note: I'm the only that thinks that Pink Bubbles is not a great album, but not as bad as everybody says?
I think is in the 70-75 range.
