My dad called me last night and said he had heard a cool song on his satelite radio. He said the band is called Black Stone Cherry and he told me the song title but I forget now. It has something to do with a wizard and rain or something. Now my dad likes older hard rock/metal (Deep Purple, Rainbow, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, ZZ Top, Rush, Van Halen, Motorhead, etc...) and he said that Black Stone Cherry sounds like Deep Purple and Rainbow mix of music with a more modern vocal approach. I googled them and found their website, streamed a song on my shitty dial-up laptop and it didn't sound too bad. For me though I got more of a Black Label Society feel to it. Are these guys worth checking out?

It depends on what you mean by "worth checking out". Would I pay $15.99 for it? Probably not. I paid $6.99 and that was worth it. I wouldn't pay more than $10. They're a good mordern, bluesy rock band with a slight retro sound, but they can also sound like Godsmack and the like at times.

Well by worth checking out, I meant buy one or more of their cds. And yes 15.99 plus is probably what I would pay 'cause I would get it at a HMV. What is a recommended album? Or do they only have one?

PS - after reading my older post, I wanted to hear some Deep Purple.

NP - Deep Purple - Son of Alerik

They have just the one full-length and an EP as far as I know. I could be wrong, though.

I think I heard these guys and couldn't stand them, however, I could be thinking of a completely different band.
