Seems I'm the only one who's exited about the first Classic Gong line up reunion since 29 years (minus Pierre, R.I.P.)

Before this thread falls below the floor, here are two more suggestions that you don't find in any Space pack yet.
The Mackig Brothers Live at the Witchwood 1991 Acoustic Space/Folk Trio with Glissando Guitar, Keyboards/Didgeridoo/Flute/Irish Whistle, and Violin.
Guru & Zero Makoto Mango Repetitive Deep Space Ambient that first knots, and then thin-slices your brain.

after you clueless newbs have read Misha's Hawkwind review and thusly sought out Hawkwind samples, thereby adding a new dimension to your soul, here's what else you should investigate. if you liked the lush atmosphere go for Ummagumma to Meddle-era Pink Floyd (obviously), as well as almost anything by Eloy or Ozric Tentacles.. if you preferred the minimal repitition then check out Ash Ra Tempel and Amon Duul II.. and maybe Gong too. And also Kraftwerk who are poppy kraut/electronica with hardly any space at all.. just so long as you know that there's more to them than, "I'm the operator of my pocket calculator.." finally, if you preferred the slightly chaotic nature of the music, check out Can and Boredoms, especially their album "Vision Creation Newsun" which is like a fucking DRUM CIRCLE ON THE MOON. (The further back you go with the Boredoms, the more they'll remind you of a sort of indie Fantomas. this is incorrect. Fantomas should remind you of the Boredoms.) Ok.. Mish, Stef.. help me out with more suggestions. Or just share in the awe of spaaaaace roooock~~!

Hawkwind made 34 studio recordings, and a hand full of offical live recordings, plus there are tonnes of bootlegs, of which some are better then any original material. So there is enough to explore before you go for related bands... However, for those who love the "hippy aesthetics and raver electronics with spiralling guitars, textured waves of keyboard and midi samplers, and supergroovy bass and drum rhythms", there are some more tips. Mr. Quimby's Beard are probably the most true to original copycats. Out there is a good album to start with. Quarkspace (The Hidden Moon) are probably the most true to original copycats outside the UK. Daevid Allen era Gong is more Jazz/Fusion based than Hawkwind but there are some relationships musicalwise and personel (keyboard wizard Tim Blake played on landmark albums of both, Gong's You and Hawkwind's Levitation). If this isn't Metal enough then try Ewigkeit. Land of Fog and Radio Ixtlan is a well worth listening mix of Blackend Dark Metal and Hawk styled Space Rock. The new one Conspiritus has only marginal Metal influences left and sounds like further modernized Hawkwind. Side note: Early Monster Magnet (Dopes to Infinity) is also heavily influenced by the Hawks and Star One's Space Metal has Mastermind Dave Brock himself guesting on the bonus CD.

Autumn's Grey Solace Dimension F3H Howe, Steve Ozric Tentacles Sigur Ros Spiritualized Amon Duul II Not really a space rock fan but these are bands i think are spacy. Few of my friend are big fans of these bands.
